Two things I have noticed are firstly you can only use PLA, which is not generally a problem but occasionally there may be a need to use ABS, nylon etc. A bigger problem is that according to one of the quotes I read you are locked in to their filaments as they use chipped spools which cannot be refilled. Andy Meade Posted February 8, 2017 Author Share Posted February 8, 2017 There are ways around the filament chips with a simple Arduino hack, but I didn't think the prices for the filament were too bad actually! I pay about £19 per kg of ABS for my Up, but the official PLA seems to be about £26. For me, only using PLA wouldn't be ideal, admittedly.
