Stephen Smith 14
Sounds like to many clubs that make rules for the fun of it. The biggest rule the club I fly with is your an adult and the rest follows easily, membership is full and we have ten on the waiting list and looks like only one might not rejoin, and where not cheap so perhaps the best way of getting the members lots of clubs are struggling for is get rid of all the old jobs worths and get a sensible adult committee. alex nicol
Couldn't agree more...............it's a pity you can't ban the jobsworths...........or he who makes the daftest rule gets to cut the grass for a month
Andy G.
Pretty much every club or organisation I have ever been involved with can only impose a rule change at the AGM or if the perceived need for a change can't wait until then they must call an EGM. The only exception to this being a change in the law, such as the recent height limits which affect our club as we fly on an active airfield. Mowerman
Sounds like another case of 'Guidelines' being interpreted as 'Rules'
Engine Doctor
Thinking back we had a similar issue when APC props first appeared. The then Chairman wanted to ban them as "He" thought they were too sharp and dangerous ! He even told some new member that they were banned at our club . word spread and It was discussed at committee and at a club meeting and it was agreed that once spinning they were no more dangerous than any other prop . He never got his way and democracy ruled . How does your club make decision ? No one committee member including a Chairman can set rules without going through the clubs procedures whatever they may be. Ask again at a club meeting or bring it up at an AGM and ask how this rule was instigated.
