rcaddict
just had a prang with an old gangster 52 that i converted, i suspect the the Cog was too far forward as when i throttled back to land it kind of dived into the ground (all repaired now) also elevator was sluggish requiring a lot of input - does this sound like Cog issue to you guys? Engine Doctor
It could be COG or it could be thrust line issues . Was motor shaft set at the same angle as the I/C engine shaft ?
rcaddict
yes thrust line was the same - or not far off
Bob Cotsford
In my opinion it sounds to be nose heavy, the sluggish elevator response is the giveaway. Try the 45 degree inverted climb test or the power off vertical dive, either should show a big deviation from a straight line if it is that nose heavy. Peter Jenkins
OG, you might find following this trim process helpful. Your description of your aircraft's behaviour points towards a CG that is too far forward but as already mentioned it could also be the thrustline is out. The process I've linked you to deals with how to sort out the thrustline both for pitching and yawing issues. Be interested to hear how you get on.
