Xander Caswell
looks good too me, did you use the same tech as glenn on the vulcan?
Dusty
no, I faintly drew the lines on the model, then I used some pencil shavings and lightly rubbed over the lines to get the weathering. After that I used Revell #1 clear model finnishing varnish and brushed over the panel lines so they dont smudge etc when you handle the model.hope it helps? winchweight
Very nice. How does she fly?
Dusty
Shaun first flight she rolled to the left on torque during launch so you need quick fingers! the nose drops a tad and off she goes , first flight was a tad tail heavy for some reason as on the recommended c of g it was nose heavy.. took a few minuted to get used too, the ailerons are wild!!! I had duel rates and set the min for 65% and all you had to do was to breathe on the stick and she would turn! The model looses momentum in the turn and slows down so on turns you need to bang on the power to push through it as it do a incipient spin on you (opposite wing to the inner wing will stall) and it will bite if the c of g is any further back to what I had it!The flaperons are very effective and half way through the flight I was using them to assist with the turns. They work like a real plane, so as you drop the barn doors the nose pitches up.Landing the was a doodle with flap, it floats even with slight power, watch the elevator in the grass!Flight 2 I lessened the rates, the launch was spot on it went up and didn't drop a wing, with a bit more confidence I switched to high rate to see what effect the ailerons have and all I have to say is on lookers were gob smacked at the awesome roll rate of this machine!! I you make one make sure you know which way is up and its violent rolls can get you disorientated! Inverted was good, has a very positive response on the elevator, I think the system I used made it very smooth and effective compare to cheapo wood dowl!It was rather wind so upwind performance was not so hot but downwind "balls to the wall" passes were top gun. Loops and vertical were die hards, I need to do some bench testing to get some power out of the motor. All in all its home in one piece and I am pritty satisfied but just lacking on some more speed! If I rate it with other parkjets built and flown I will say a number 2 at the mo, but def a #1 for looks in the air presence and when I get the power up it will take the cake...So I can say that it is a parkjet and it truly flew like a parkjet with the flaps down you can make tight circuits, open it up and its ab-it more, speed it what it needs...happy so far as all the hours of work didn't end in tears..buy one... NObuild one of Steve Schumates... YES
Dusty
Here are some pics of the Talon now with a clear canopy and about 15 flights, I have a 8x6 on here and the model is the biz!The canopy is clear, its looks misted as the model has just landed and it was very cold outside, after a few minutes the mist cleared!
