Christopher Topping
Hi, I have a Maxford Bleriot XI which I landed too roughly and split the fibreglass flat 'bar' that makes up the front undercarriage. How does one drill these spars without them spilting?
Denis Watkins
Masking tape, sandwich with plywood sheet and firm support on the drill bed Chris Assuming the area is flat Masking tape, one layer, top and bottom to prevent scratching Then thin ply, top and bottom, G clamped the the drill bed Nice sharp drill, set to highest speed Then don't punch it through, but gently allow the bit to make its way through Ease the bit through allowing this to cut
