Douglas Wheelhouse 1
Hi everyone, I have just acquired a all wood / foam wing kit of Chris Fosse Acrowot, The instructions have an added sheet stating to offset the engine datum by3/16" and shimming the mount gack to the original datum to add side thrust , is this step necessary, just seems a lot to me thank you, Douglas
Alan Gorham_
The more powerful powerplant you have, then the need for right thrust increases. It's up to you to balance the work involved in offsetting the mount vs trimming the aircraft in other ways to get non-screwy inside and outside loops and vertical climbs for stall turns. Personally, I'd do it. Edited By Alan Gorham_ on 22/10/2019 10:32:
Geoff S
Assuming the distance from the firewall to the propeller is 100mm then the side thrust 'a' is given by tan a (or sin a, for small angles they're almost the same) = 4.5/100 = .045 so, checking my faithful 4 figure tables, side thrust angle is approx 2 deg 36" which isn't all that excessive. I'd certainly do it. Geoff
