Some armchair analysis: three things wrong there.

- there is no need to run with a model like that, a good hard static throw at about 40 degrees should send her on her way. Make sure the pilot has some up elevator in place;

- his hand was positioned behind the cg, so when the pilot powered up the pendulum effect dropped the nose and the launcher was very lucky not to have his leg sliced by the prop; and

- for large models like that you need both hands on the model. In windy conditions have one hand on the fuse and one on the wing , in calm conditions some like to have two hands on the fuse.
