Xander Caswell
hi all im hoping that some one out tere will have a solution to my little dilema, i have been building the blackhorse p-40 over the last few weeks and was hooking up the radio gear and noticed that one retract is very sloppy when down and will rotate quiet easily i have tried adjusting the linkages on the servo , bellcrank and mech retract and still is all over the place the unit is brand new and has only been in the model since i started to install the radio?????? this seems to be the only thing that has given any grief every other aspect of the build was so smooth everything fit as it should with no hidden vises to bite you, please help methanks xander
David Ashby - Moderator
It's either the mechanism or the linkages xander, have you used mechanical retracts before? They can be quite a bind to set up. Might be worth taking the two units out and seeing how they compare. Sometimes they'll have little grub screw adjusters that may have come loose. Xander Caswell
No this is the first set of retracts i have ever played with thanks david i will take them out and look and see if there is any adjustment on them right now one works ok not perfect but the other hangs bout an inch from the wing when it is in the up poss thanks xander
Tim Mackey
My bet is as David says..... adjustment needed on the grub screw to take up the slack. Another thing to be carefull about is that following adjustment, ensure that the units / linkages are not in a stalled position when locked either up or down. It is best practice to use a seperate battery to power the retract servo in case of problems....which could drain the main flight pack with obvious disastrous results. Kelly
If they are mechanical check all the screws, bell crank etc use a little thread lock to keep them nice and tight. They should work something like this on my H9 P-40 .[/p
