Nils Idemalm
I'm cleaning out the house of an old RC aircraft model builder. I found these. Are they any good? Are they worth building? What can they be worth? They are at least 15 ys old, more likely 25 ys old or so. Unbuild in original box. I have tried to search the internet a bit but have difficult to find any info. Jesus Cardin
Nils, if you are an experienced modeller of course they are worth building! And they even may be considered for electric power conversion. Anyway I say if you are an experienced modeller as Marutaka kits have a lot of work and they tend to be quite heavy, so an experienced eye may decide what to modify or build lighter for a better performance. In the contrary, if you are not interested in and rather prefer selling them, in this forum you may find great experts which may help with pricing but I think, perhaps, you might find more specialised support from the USA forum RC Universe, as there you will find 2 specialised thread devoted just to Marutaka brand, known there and other countries as Royal. https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-scale-aircraft-169/9401552-royal-marutaka-mk-kits-complete-listing.html https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-scale-aircraft-169/6667128-royal-kits.html Best luck with those beautiful models! Bob Cotsford
Nils, are you in the UK? I'm sure they would get a good price from kit collectors as they look pristine, builders might want to pay a bit less. I quite fancy an old-fashioned kit of a Zero but not at any price. I can only find a couple of Marutaka/Royal kits in sold listings on Ebay but none of the particular ones that you have so even that resource has failed to put a value on them. I've seen TopFlite kits from that era go anywhere from £80-250, all depends how much buyers want them on the day. Can you see what recommended engine sizes are shown on the boxes? kevin b
They look to be 1/2A, or Junior kits. They appear to be in excellent condition and very collectable, but will not command the same amounts as the larger kits. I have a collection of about 40 Marutaka / Royal kits, which are for an on going project. I don't particularly collect the smaller ones, but do have a couple. Jesus is right that the best market would be America and selling through RC Universe would, in my opinion be the most profitable. However Ebay might be easier and if you do decide to go that route offer international delivery through ebay as it is the cheapest and cuts out some of the "middle men". If you want any more advice, or information about these kits PM me (I don't want to buy them from you) and I will give any assistance I can. kevinb Marutaka fanciers unlimited. Nils Idemalm
Thanks all for the input and advice. I will most likely sell them as I prefer model ships I'm located in Sweden and first I will check the "local" market and then Ebay. It is easier to sell in Sweden when it comes to payment and so on. But again, thanks for all info!
