Clive Moore
Hi all,I'm trying to find out if I can use Cellulose thinners to thin this paint. Anyone got any idea ? Clive
Ernie
Hi, Clive, It is possible to thin Solarlac with cellulose thinners, but,I wouldn't do it, because you can never be quite sure of the exact composition of paint systems, and the finish might not be quite as good as you would wish. On the other hand ,it could be a sneaky sales ploy to make us buy expensive and difficult to source Solarlac products..Of course, if you are going to do it, you try a wee bit where a mess doesn't matterernie
Paul Byrne
Hi Clive, I've used alot of solarlac paint to spray my planes and have only ever used cellulose thinners, never had any problems. Spraying my 50% Christen Eagle which has 8 different solarlac colors, everthing ok

Malcolm Fisher
If you want an even cheaper alternative, from time to time, Lidl offers a universal thinner which I have used with several types of paint with no problems. I haven't tried it with Solarlac, but I would think it would most likely work and at, IIRC, about £3 per litre, it's worth a try.
