Tundra wing struts

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know for sure I'd the Tundra wing struts are structural , the wing is pretty stiff without ?

The reason my friend dumped one in a tree yesterday we got it back but the strut has torn a hole in the wing where the fastening used to be . Anyone used one without ? It's 2nd hand and little tatty so no great loss if it claps ! That's the smaller Tundra not the Grand Tundra .

They look similar to those on my Carbon Cub.

The wings may seem stable enough whilst sitting on the ground with no real change in pressures being forced on them but put it a couple of hundred feet in the air and depending on the wind etc, various tensions and compressive pressures will change that which will be what the struts have been designed for.

Not a problem if you dont mind risking further damage or loss but may be an issue from an insurance perspective if you damage somebody elses property or end up in a personal injury claim. I'd imagine the model would be deemed as " not fit for purpose " or to have had " design changes " applied which will leave you very much on your own.

Maybe an attempted repair, no matter how Heath Robinson it may look would be the way to progress. .... just my thoughts I'm no expert.
