Steve Fox
Hi folks. Looking for a tip or advice of weathering the leading edge on my wing. I have noticed a lot of pictures of WWI Warbird with linen covering show through the painted surface and also the taping over the ribs of the wing My colour is silver and I want a little linen color showing through along the edge. your thoughts will be most appreciated cheers Steve NZ Edited July 5, 2023 by Steve Fox Grammar

Steve Fox
Hi there Jon Thanks for your reply 19 hours ago, Jon - Laser Engines said: Did you paint the linen covering silver? if so some fine wet n dry rubbed on the front will do the job nicely The silver is just your standard covering film. I am on a budget with this building and are having to use what I have at hand I sprayed the silver film with a Army brand dull varnish spray. I found in the past that this sticks really well to the film and is flexible. So I have painted some French linen colour on ,it is water based with a slight amount of solvent in. I think this helps meld the paint to the varnish base. I will top coat with silver and weather it back. Maybe it will work, will have to wait and see Cheers Steve 👍 NZ
