Myron Beaumont
Excuse my ignorance in these matters & I'm almost embarressed to ask but -What is a 400 size motor that retailers keep referring to?
Stephen Grigg
Its a .brushed motor that seems standard for most e/kits The Easistar has 1 The twinstar has 2.A couple of other kits had the same motor.
Myron Beaumont
Thanks Stephen for your reply _ trouble is- I'm non the wiser I have a couple of brushless out runner motors but dont know what applications are available to fit them in ? They are AFA -OM480 2300 KV & I have a 4s Lipo pack of 22000mAh . What I want to do is use this gear to power a glider/ slope soarer type thing & will design the airframe around the weight etc criteria The max output of each is just over 400 watts (using my wattmeter on an EDF unit) It will be a big glider -Just what I want to build Maybe 8 ft span .What do you think ?. I'm on a steep learning curve from ic stuff but can see the advantage of 'lekky power on a pod on a glider. no. 1 the nose ballast will be the battery ! Tim Mackey
2300 Kv is a tad fast for props, except very small ones, so not likely to be right on a large glider. 400 referred to the diameter of the case ( approximately 40mm ) and speed 600 = 60 mm etc etcFor large glider type thingy you need a slow revving ( low Kv 800 -1200 or so ) and big prop for lots of thrust rather than top end speed.
