David Ashby - Moderator
If, like, me, you've more than a few books by Martin Simons on your shelf then you'll be sad to learn that he recently passed away at the age of 93. He was a highly respected writer specialising in gliders and aerodynamics. The RCSD have put up a fine tribute to him and you can read it here: https://medium.com/rc-soaring-digest/martin-simons-8512478067b0 1
Nick Somerville
Martin’s beautiful book on The Worlds Vintage Sailplanes was like a bible to me back in my scale glider modelling years.
Geoff S
I have his 'Model Aircraft Aerodynamics' on the bookshelf over my desk as I type. I read it when I bought it, but it was a bit too technical for me and needed considerable study to get any benefit, but certainly thorough. I found Alastair Sutherland's book a bit more useful and practical for my purposes. However, Martin was clearly a very educated and knowledgeable expert (who was likely the source of some of Alastair's book).
