Myron Beaumont
Timbo Does that mean it's OK to connect a Tx nicad pack straight to a car battery & stop when things warm up ? Assuming a voltage of say 13 V ? If so -For how long starting from flat ?

Myron Beaumont
Phil Gottcha Thats what I thought but no harm asking
Myron Beaumont
PS I suppose if I knew the internal resistance of the pack I could stick a nice bit wirewound resistor in series -Or is that a no-no as well?
Myron Beaumont
PSS I've only ever used the "wall" charger on Nicd's and never got out what is written on the pack according to my Wattmeter
Tim Mackey
yes you could use a current limiting resistor, but frankly the risk of cooking your pack at the least, and worse dangers at worst means its simply not worth the risk. NiMHs do NOT like being overcooked and will die very quickly if the charge is not terminated at the precise time - one reason why many wall chargers are not suited to NiMHs being designed instaead for NiCD
ken anderson.
hello patrick-for year's i've used field charger's with my ni-cad's and the last couple of year's with my nimh's--to be honest the only time i use the supplied wall charger's is for a first charge-after that it is with the main's/field charger....this i use for my lipo's as well...........no prob's up to now............ ken anderson............
