Graham Crossley
I am building a CMP Swallow EX90 ARTF pattern aircraft and would like to replace the supplied metal fixed landing gear with a carbon fibre type. Does anyone know where these can be purchased? Thanks. Graham Crossley
Craig Carr
Hi Graham, I replaced the metal units on my Seagull Spacewalker many years ago with a commercially availaible carbon unit from Carbon Copy. Never let me down at all. Just need to take the measurements of your exisiting undercarriage Height, width (between wheel to wheel) and the top bit and find the closest to what you need on their site. There is a diagram on their site explaining this........ They can also do them in white as well as some swept back ones CraigEdited By Craig Carr on 29/07/2009 09:02:
Craig Carr
Just been on their site. Looks like they have some ready made parts exactly for your model.... Click here http://www.carboncopyuk.com/acatalog/copy_of_Swallow.html Craig
Myron Beaumont
Graham I presume your "metal fixed" landing gear is dural or similar . If it is -use it as a pattern / former / mould for making a copy in GRP .I've made a couple this way . Make it by clingfilming the pattern first -then just lay up several layers of woven type ( I prefer) glass until it's about twice as thick as your Ali trim/ sand when cured. It's strong ,slightly bendy and will never shatter ( F1 ? ) It won't cost much either obviously. Give it a go ! G-UMPY
Graham Crossley
Many thanks for replying Craig & Myron. The ready made at carbon copy is just the job but I never even thought about making my own. The metal part supplied is really not very good so thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
