zlin50
Hi I am thinking of buying this model - can anyone tell me if an SC 70 FS would be a suitable power plant. regards Hans
andy watson
A 70 should be a cracking engine. My mate has one that he tried to fly on the recommended 52FS, and whilst it would just about fly, he thought it was very underpowered (it should be borne in mind that his throttle is more like an on/off switch though!). I think it might have been a 70FS he went up to.
David Ashby - Moderator
Agree a 70 four-stroke, there's plenty of room under the cowl.

zlin50
Hi guys Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to extend the fuel needle control through the large cowl of the Gilmore racer. It must be sufficiently long to turn by hand when the engine is running but short enough or flexible to allow the cowl to be manoeuvred into position. regards Hans
Stephen Grigg
You can buy Os extensions that are a flexible wire, once the cowl is in place you then put a circular knob on the end held in place with a grub screw
Tim Mackey
Solid wire extensions to needle valves are often the cause of poor running due to the extra vibration transmitted back to the delicate tolerances of the needle assembly. The recommended system is to use something like a piece of fuel tubing over the end of the original needle, and then use this as a guide to insert a small screwdriver / allen key whatever into the end of the needle and adjust.
