Matt Watts
Well the description explains this thread fairly well. Sorry if this belongs in electric flight! I've been reading the Nigel Hawes review of the Flying Wings Raven (March 2009), and he uses hot glue throughout the entire build - a material which I am rather lacking. Can I simply use UHU-Por on this (I am unfamiliar with EPP)? It's rather confusing as he uses Por throughout the previous build of the Mini Bongo, which is also made of EPP (though apparently a lighter variety). Thanks in advance for help! Adam Lomax
i think its personal preferance really, hot glue is quicker. i would personally use uhu por for any critical joints e.g. motor mounts, wing joining e.c.t. just for peace of mind but i havent had any problems with epp and uhu por Adam Lomax
BB
Ditto - Hot glue leaves little if any time for adjustments. BB
Matt Watts
Thanks! I suppose hot glue is heavier stuff?
Adam Lomax
probably but it only really matters if your a very serious flyer, a few grams is nothing really
Matt Watts
True, I guess worrying about this on a model of 820mm span is being a bit pedantic.
buster prop
Hot glue guns are really cheap, mine came from Woolies just before they went bust and cost about £4. I managed to get some new glue sticks for it to use at indoor meetings last winter to repair my mini bongo. That's the best thing about hot glue - instant repairs! Some bits of my mini bongo are more glue than foam although it was built originally using UhU POR. Resist the temptation to smooth the glue with your finger while it's still hot...
