  1. Is it within the rules to enter a photo that's converted to B/W ? Edited By Steve Colman on 19/04/2013 21:45:20
  2. Update, Just a quickie to say a big thank you to all who contributed to my questions, I have since replaced the motor and now have all the power I need on the same lipos.
  3. I now have my Solius Kit. I paid 115 Euros at my LHS. First impressions much like those of Capt Kremmen; typical Mpx quality throughout. Model is well packed and protected in the box, nice smooth elapor mouldings and good quality anciliaries. I hope to begin the build/assembly early next week, work and other matters (chores) pending. Steve.
  4. Posted by I_AM_MARKEVANS on 09/02/2013 20:27:46: I think it's just me, i have 1 little crash and i'm ready to run back to safe, easy to fly model. No Mark, it's not just you, it happens to us all ! When something goes a little wrong it does knock your confidence. And, sometimes we just have bad days. I recall about a month ago when I was flying a model that I'd flown many times before. However, this particular day for some unknown reason I was nervous flying it; something just didn't seem right and it was if I was back at being a beginer all over again. Next time out, no problem at all. Just keep at it and one day everything will just click into place almost without you noticing it.
  5. Mark, As you've said yourself, I think youd be better served by continuing with the Wot 4. And, you'd save yourself some money in the process. Also, once you can fly it really well I think you would indeed find the FC a backward step in terms of progressing further. Yes, the FC wing is a 2 piece. Steve.
  6. Interesting question.....I went the other way.....! Sold my Fun Cub ( as appears in my avatar) and replaced it with an Acromaster and couldn't be happier. The FC is a great model. And, fully rigged with flaps ( I didn't bother) does seem to offer lots of opportunities for goofing around low and slow. However, and this is only my personal opinion, I think that the FC is best suited to being flown in a relaxing, scale like manner. Sure, it can perform crazy aerobatics if you wish but you will be fighting somewhat against a flat bottom wing with lots of dihedral. And, after a model like the Wot 4 it may seem to handle sluggishly. It really needs the application of rudder for co-ordinated turns and rolls are anything but axial. I'm not trying to put you off because it is a great model, just pointing out a few things you should consider before going ahead with a purchase. Steve.
  7. I've also ordered a Solius kit today from my local model shop and should have it in my mits next week.
  8. Spot on moorer. The Funman is basically a repackaged Minimag.
  9. Thanks PatMC, Will pay a visit to my LHS later this afternoon to see whats available. Luckily it's just 100m from my house.
  10. I'm overwhelmed guys and certainly didn't expect to see such in depth analysis. Can I then concur from all of the above that it would be worth trying a larger prop, or two ? Seems to bo the simplest and cheapest option at the moment. Thanks for all your input gentlemen. Steve.
  11. Thanks for the link to the chart PatMc. Very useful info.
  12. Erfolg, I have a Pulama that I've not got round to buiding yet.. However, I came across these two very informative videos: Ep34 Part one:Review: The Techone Pulama the build. youtube Ep34 Part Two: Review: Techone Pulama (the flying).youtube Re adhesives; standard CA and UHU por can both be used on EPP with success. Hope this helps.
  13. Once again, thanks for your replies guys. Now a confession. I feel somewhat embarrassed to say that I got my figures completely muddled. Re-testing today the figures were 260W , 26A on 3S and 600W , 40A on 4S. Thus, confirming the figures that you guys have stated given the motor specs. and also confirming that my lipo's are fine. Please accept my apologies, I do feel somewhat foolish. I will test some bigger props to see if I can eek out a little more power however. Steve.
  14. Chris, my thoughts exactly. My intention tomorrow is only to do a static test with 4S. The other obvious thing is to test some different 3S lipo's.
  15. Martin, The motor is the newer GT version which has slightly different specs.
  16. Many thanks for the prompt replies gentlemen. More info which I forgot to add earlier. In addition to the 260w reading on the meter it also indicated a current draw of 40A ! From this I assume that upping the prop size wouldn't be sensible on 3S? The Lipo's have only had a dozen cycles from new and after balance charging are very close to 4.2v per cell. In terms of specs; size, weight, etc they are similar to those recommended by Sebart for the model. After a typical flight of 8 minutes battery consumption averages around 1400mah, the lipos are warm but not hot. Similarly, the motor and esc are warm to the touch but no more. Tomorrow I hope to test again using a 4S lipo from a friend. Many thanks again gents. steve.
  17. I'm flying a Sebart Shark with the following: Motor: Emax GT2820/07, 850Kv, 12x6 prop ESC: Generic, 50A constant, 60A burst Lipos: Polypower 3S 2650mah, 30c After a while just tootling around, I've just started exploring the aerobatic capabilities of the model and although it performs well it seemed to lack any real punch. Checked the setup with a watt meter today and was shocked to find that the power system was only producing 260W at wot. On a 4S lipo the motor specs indicate a tad more than 600W. Of course I didn't expect anything like that power on 3S but 260W does seem a bit below par. My suspicion is that the lipos are not delivering anywhere near their stated C rating. Your knowledgable thoughts much appreciated. Steve.
