  4. Well Chris I may give it a go once I work out how to add pics which this is a test. My build will be very basic with no building jigs, all parts cut out my hand etc. Try this. Hamish
  5. Great David, a blog I will follow with great interest. I have started mine from the Svenson plan I downloaded from Outerzone and is a total scratch build. Looking at your pictures there are obvious differences in the wing in that my main longerons are shown as 3x10 where as yours appear to be 5x5. Have changed these two to birch and increase the size of all the others from 4x4 to 5x5. The reason I have done this is I intend to use a Saito 40 4# which is bit heavy and my thought are to make a stronger wing. Any comments gratefully received. I follow with interest.
  6. That is a lot of money for a kit of parts. It would be interesting to no how many actually scratch build from plans as against those that assembly from a kit. The build thread's should be interesting to follow.
  7. And what voltage will the MH battery be at when you have just stopped the engine? High enough to blow your tx. Do not think it's a good idea to directly attach a tx o an unregulated supply but you can tale a chance.
  8. I would be very reluctant to connect my tx directly to the vehicle/leisure battery. I remove lipo from my tx and charge through a normal lipo charger which is able to tolerate variations in input voltages.
  9. When in MH I use a small inverter and the normal chargers. I connect the lipo charger direct to battery using crocs. Tx battery does not need charged on a daily basis unless it has severly heavy use
  10. Try this link http://www.ross-shiremfc.co.uk/ Many years ago I attempted to get info from a club up in your area about where their site was but they were very secretive as I think is was on a private strip. Possibly resulted in their demise. Possibly above not the same club and it's a super location to fly in, although it will be getting cold
  11. Hello Chris, yes and I have a set of "kit" plans which unfortunately do not show the section of rib W7 but will compromise or hopefully somebody can assist. I have very recently built the Barronet by Svenson and it was a straightforward build and flies a treat. The Vicomte appears to have the same omission with the rudder as no provision was made for the elevator movement, but easily overcome. I may also make the winner as the next model on. 12. I have a plan for the model I intend to build irrespective of the outcome. The point I was making is it is not a level playing field and however insignificant you consider the additional cost of the plan others may think differently. £12.50 buys a lot of balsa!
  13. Not a very level playing field when some plans are free to download and others £12.50 plus??
  14. Thanks John, it's the fluffy hinges I have used and in the odd occasion I had to replace found them hard to dig which prompted my question about pinning.
  15. My apologies as I now understand how voting occurs. Still get no info if I select Barron and is this a kit build other than scratch build?
  16. When I select Barron (kit???) and not in red I get details of Fantail. Have I a problem?
  17. If you can indicate the model you are proposing to build perhaps somebody may have actual experience and advise. I have found you can never have enough balsa so purchase in excess. Are you able to cut sheet into strips/TE etc?
  18. Having just renovated my Maricardo i am eliminating this model, however I would say it is an absolute cracker and worthy of a build. My vote is for the Baron 1914 (free 'Svenson Vicomte 1915' ) particularly as I have plans and is my next build I have also just scratch build the http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=7838 which is a smaller version of the Baron and found it a simple build and an absolute delight to fly. At moment in Spain for another 4 weeks and can't wait to get home and start building.
  19. In the past I have had great difficultly digging out a mylar hinge. Is there any need to pin them?
  20. Well after about 20 years + since I crashed eventually repaired. Not flown it yet as weather not best. Its a looker
