1. I'd just like to point out as well that plenty of other websites manage to keep me logged in when using different computers, e.g. RC Groups.
2. I presume the website is generating a new StoredSID then each time I login with "Remember Me" checked, rather than reusing any existing one, e.g.   I login with PC A and get an SSID of aaa.  The website also remembers aaa against my account.  I then visit the site on PC B, the website asks for the SSID but gets nothing so asks me to login.  I login with "Remember Me" and get a  new SSID of bbb which is associated with my account rather than reusing the aaa SSID which is stored on PC A.  Thus when I visit again with PC A, the website queries for the SSID and gets aaa which it no longer recognises as connected to my account and asks me to login again, and this gives me a new SSID of ccc, and ad infinitum.   For Eric, all logging out does is clear any "login" cookie on that machine for the account you are logging out from.   This only prevents someone opening up your browser on your PC and visiting sites that you are still logged with.  If you are the only user of your PC then you are probably safe enough, but if it is a shared PC then you should logout from sites.
3. I've noticed that whenever I visit the site from a different computer I'm not logged in to the site even though I've checked the "remain logged in" checkbox.   Is this by design and if so to what end?
4. There's also an XT40 in between the 2 that Frank mentioned.  Mine flew well as a first low wing until hitting the prop and breaking a blade on takeoff caused quite a bit of damage on the subsequent ground arrival.  Hopefully a new fuselage will get it back in the air.   FYI, I think the XT25 uses 3S, the XT40 uses 4S and the XT60 uses 6S so cost of batteries and any existing ones you have may swsy your choice.
5. I have built and flown one!   This was my first RC model many years after building and tissue doping hand launched gliders.  I bought the kit and had it 80% done but never finished it off and it lay in the garage for 6 years or so.  Eventually I visited the local club's Open Day last year, got the bug again and finished the model off.  I swapped the original geared speed 600 for a brushless and the 8 cell NiMh for 3S Lipo.   Everything seemed to go together fine, I took it along to the club, the instructor checked it out, we did a few ground tests and then took off.  Instant adrenaline time for the instructor, massive pitch up under power.   To cut a long story short, I eventually solved the pitch up by jacking up the rear of the wing to reduce the incidence, by about 1cm!.  This made the plane manageable.  The folk at the club couldn't see anything wrong with the way I had originally built it, and the problem was put down to a bad design.   The other comment from the club instructors was that there was very little dihedral which made it less than suitable for a first model.   I subsequently picked up a Seagull e-Pioneer for £30, and that has stood me in good stead through going solo and I've now progressed onto an H9 Pulse XT 40.   I think the e-Pioneer was a bargain (at half-price) and a great trainer.  I've never flown the Cricket since I got the e-Pioneer flying Graham
6. I remember British manufacturing in the 70s and 80s, we had such fantastic things as the Morris Marina, the Austin Princess and the pinnacle of engineering excellence, the Austin Allegro.   If the Tories were responsible for businesses deciding to move manufacturing overseas (by reducing labour rights and business taxes ) because it was cheaper then surely Labour has accelerated the decline due to the additional labour costs and taxes they have forced on businesses.   Let's face it, the customer is king, and if they aren't prepared to pay the prices that a high cost labour force and business environment incurs then those businesses will be forced to close down or move their manufacturing elsewhere.   I don't see how globalisation can be stopped without erecting trade barriers and I'm far from convinced they help anyone at all.
7. You can get an interface lead that will control the shutter and optionally power the FlyCam from Here
8. How about this one?   300W, 12-15V @ 25A.  £24.95 delivered.   I know it only has a single output, but you could still run two chargers in parallel from it as long as you don't exceed the power rating.   Graham Edited By Graham Bloice on 30/05/2009 10:48:29
9. Good post blobs, and this is the reason that I see hard times ahead for high priced traditional RC vendors.   With the RF side reduced to a commodity  what's left in a TX?  Some good quality switches and gimbles for the sticks, power regulator, lcd display and a microprocessor and its software.   None of these items adds up to the IMHO exorbitant cost charged by traditional vendors.  Watch for Chinese manufacturers to take on this market in a race to the bottom.  If a vendor made their system open by allowing access to the programming software then I think they could clean up.   There will still be a market for the high priced traditional market, witness hi-fi systems, but the majority of us will benefit from much cheaper systems.   Graham
10. I have the E-Pioneer and it's fantastic.  Even the IC members of the club have been impressed.   Even better I only paid £30 for it brand new from Model Shop Leeds (+ delivery) as they were having a sale.   See the very large thread HERE for more details. 11. Has anyone flown or even seen the Seagull AT-6 Texan EP?   The pic is from the UK distributors, J Perkins, their page can be found HERE.   I am very happy with my Seagull E-Pioneer  and looking at this for my next model.
12. I used these in my Pioneer.   They work fine for me, I was cleared to fly solo by my instructor last Saturday and put it to good use on Sunday as well.   Only problem I've ever had with the model was an initial small puncture in the wing covering on the first visit to the field, ficed with some Blenderm tape, and a bigger puncture coming on on Sunday with the buzz of flying solo!  Will need to recover that section of the wing this week.   The Pioneer has been fantastic, even the IC instructors liked it.
13. How about a multiplex connector; HERE.
14.
Sounds like a major pain that it will break everyone's DVB TVs and set-top-boxes though!
The changes to DTV may require a retune, but won't render the equipment redundant.
15. If you don't fancy buying via Ebay, you can go to Vapex direct here and save yourself 15p in the process.   Re the charger, when I mentioned Lipo\NiMH I meant to indicate that a modern charger that does both chemistries will be a peak detect  NiMH charger.
