  1. Hi all, i don't drill the holes for the pipes, i punch them through, this gives a bit more support to the tubes when soldering them. Make sure you use a largeish iron, the tin will eat the heat ! I use the tin plate from the K&S stand in the local model shop, this stuff will take solder really well, i use solder with a silver content ( the car racing guys use it for their connectors SMC stock it). Hope this helps a bit Regards Chris.
  2. Hi all, wow, thanks, wingman brill. Yep i use it for binding u/c cabanes etc, i find that fuse wire does not work that well for me ( just my soldering i expect ) Thanks again Chris.
  3. Hi all, can anyone tell me where i can get the above? I have tried maplins, etc but no luck. Thank you Chris.
  4. Hi all, a Shuttle, bought it on a saturday ( kit ) and flew it sunday morning !!!!   Regards Chris
  5. Hi Devon, hehehe, what i meant was make sure that both Tx's are set to the mode that you fly, one guy spent ages setting up the buddy , he had the throttle into channel 2 rudder etc in all the wrong outputs on the Rx, turned out he flies on mode 2 but the Tx was in another mode so to get round this he was trying to just swap outputs / servo's and it still would not work , then we noticed that the modes were different but was trying to fly and buddy as if both Tx on mode 2 !!
  6. Confused, i thought Simon Cocker had been contributing for ages????
  7. Hi all, as it has been a while i just thought i would ask again Any flying sites near Fareham / wickham in Hampshire? Thanks for looking Chris.
  8. Hi all, got the urge to fly a heli again after a lot of years away, the shuttle is still available, i had two of these and thought they were brilliant. So, is it worth buying another or is there something better? It has to be Ic, not into this electric thingy ! Thank you Chris.
  9. Hi, Yep, Hi-Tec to futaba is fine, i used a skysport 6 to an optic 6 years ago with no problems, 100% perfect, i have just ( ok, a month or two a go) used a futaba 6ex to a Hi-Tec , again no problems. Just make sure that both are set to the same mode !!!!!! Don't ask ! Regards Chris.
  10. And don't forget the three Oil Fuel Depots, ( OFD'S ) given away to OPA, so they can then charge the MoD for fuel !!! makes sense? And guess who is a share holder of OPA ? yep the brother in law of Mr Cameron !!!!!   Chris.
  11. Hi Marky, get in touch with Dave Turner, he is on here sometimes and the "other" webby site ( RCMF.co.uk) He has done a few for other people. Regards Chris.
  12. Hi all, i remember reading a while ago, about John Stennard ( i know it's Model World !) He was in his workshop when he heard a noise, it turned out to be a Li-po venting, not connected to anything just on it's own. so if they can sit there and vent ( sounds like the wife !) then can they catch fire on their own ? would the venting have caused a problem if it had not been caught? I know Timbo says that they cannot self ignite but this was very nearly just that.   I am asking because i have just gone over to the dark side of not proper modelling, ie electric .   Hehehe, was meant as a joke ( before i start something here ! )   Thank you   Chris.C.
  13. Hi all, anyone know where i can get a Davis diesel conversion head from for a cox .049? Thanks in advance Chris.
  14. Hi all, having bought a lot of ARTF aircraft over the last 20 years or so, ( yep i had one of the first very poor artf kits ) i have to say that Great Planes are the best. They are expensive but, and it is a very big but, they are brilliant, everything fits as it should, everything is above fit for purpose, if you have an accident then Great Planes will supply every bit available so you can re-build at a very resonable cost.   When i tried to get a set of wings for a JP piper cub, they were more than the original kit !!!!!   The same for Chris Foss kits, i needed a cowling and U/C ( Glass) , He would not sell them to me , even though both items were useless in the Wots Wot kit i had bought . Very poor service. VMAR ? don't go there, useless, very poor kits and no support. Black Horse ? nice aeroplanes, severly let down by a very poor quality control, ie serious lack of glue around joints, but , the replacement service is good ie got a problem then it will be replaced foc.   Seagull? nice kits but you have to remember that Seagull produce for a lot of customers so the quality is not consistant, depends who you buy from.   So yes, some kits are well worth the extra, they are brilliant, others? no.     Regards as always   Chris C
  15. Or you could do the decent thing and buy a Hi-Tech Aurora !!!!! Has it all, does it all, and cheaper . Chris   P.S. The Rx are so cheap to buy, buy three for one Futaba.   Regards Chris ( Should be a Hi-Tech salesman )
  16. Hi all, Mazel from Devcon will work ok. It is a metal epoxy used in the aircraft industry, we use it at work if the indexing goes adrift and we need to fill and re-drill. Brilliant stuff. Regards Chris.
  17. A Flying field ! We lost ours when so called Travellers decided to break the fences down and leave it in a terrible state. Our landlady pulled the plug and ploughed the field, so a flying site would be nice . Regards Chris.
  18. TIM, brilliant, i have been asking for ages that if a kit ( or plan ) is reviewed, then a prop size is essential, not only for electric but us glow drivers like to know what prop worked on what engine. Brilliant.   Not sure that i fully agree with the bit ( in " A level Platform" ) about a goldfish bowl pushing upwards, if i put a ball in a goldfish bowl then the only force acting on said ball is gravity, the bowl is not pushing the ball up !It is holding the ball above the bottom of the bowl ( thickness of the glass )l but certainly not pushing it up.   The bit about silencing, what a brilliant read, totally spoilled by drawings that do not make sense, if you look, all the engine / to / firewall bolts touch. ie, the bolts are touching the mount then the firewall, not good, all vibration will be transmitted through said bolts so negating the effect of rubber mounts. If you look at the Du-Bro mount you will see that the bolts do not touch either the engine mount or the firewall without going through rubber. The read was brilliant, let down by silly drawings.   A Vulcan as the next plan? brilliant, please can we have it as a pusher IC version? Bet lots of those will be built, time to produce a CNC kit i think !   And a mini Tyro, what a brilliant idea, i personally will be waiting for this plan, to be honest i cannot wait, i have even been on Galaxy models webby site to order tissue, brilliant.   A very good read as always, makes me wonder just how are you going to better it ?   Honest regards as always   Chris.
  19. Why just EDF ? what about us Glow engined D/Fan flyers? Regards Chris.
  20. Hi all, is there anyway us lot who missed it can watch it ? regards Chris.
  21. Hi Tim, Sorry, we cross posted, yep well peeved, but i did read the advert and did not buy, as i think, most will do. I agree, for Ebay to let the picture run is very poor, they should at least ask for ( ok, insist) that a piccy of the offered item is included. Regards Chris.
  22. Hi BEB, don't get me wrong i do not agree with the advert, but the guy is being honest. much like the advert for the new Peugeot on TV, it has this and that, does this and that but if you read the small print at the bottom of the screen " not available in the UK " Surely then Peugeot should not be allowed to advertise the product in the UK but they do ! Not that i would buy a Peugeot !!!!   I have lots of Saito engines they are the Rolls Royce of model engines, can i mention Rolls ? They are not Rolls but if i advertised them using the Rolls name they would come up on a search for Rolls Royce,   I think, that if people are going to part with money then they need to look very carefully at what is on offer. If it sounds too good to be true, then it most probly is !!!! Regards ( and no hard feelings) Chris.
  23. Hi all, The advert does state that they are not futaba, it even says that the original futaba has closed mounting holes while the copy has slotted, it even says that the output shaft is white whereas the futaba is black. Don't get me wrong i think it is very poor of ebay to let this happen but the seller has made it very clear what the differences are, surely if you read the advert before buying then you know what you are buying? I am actually one of those who searched for futaba servo's and this advert came up on the search, hence i did not buy any. The use of a Futaba servo is i think, wrong there should be a piccy of the actual servo but apart from that i really do not see anything wrong, the seller has told us what to look for and his are not futaba. Regards Chris.
  24. Hi all, just a quick question ( excuse me if i am being thick), why is castor based fuel a no-no in glow engines but is ok to use for diesel engines? Thank you Chris
