  1. Hi all, In Wales the five mile driving rule is to be relaxed soon, so we may be able to start flying again. I have read all the precautions taken by people already flying, just wondered if they are still being used correctly, or a little re laxtion locally maybe.? Cheers
  2. Lovely looking model Cliff, and a great video too. It's probably my age ,but that sort of flying is just up my street. Cheers
  3. I have enjoyed this thread, but not what it was originally about. I have been re educated on the dangers of props and many words on saftey. I don't think we would be entrenched in the original thoughts (ic v elecrtic danger) if we we not in lock down lol .We would all be out flying. We might as well talk about being knocked down by an old ic car or a modern electric one. Having said that it is always good to be reminded of prop danger. Cheersi
  4. Update, just read on bmfa web site, flying has now began in Wales from June 1st. A five mile distance is stipulated. Shame as most club members live more than that from field.
  5. Slightly off topic, any one in Wales flying yet as there has been a small relaxation of the Welsh rules ? Cheers
  6. As I live in Wales, I am so envious of you guys I can hardly bear to read your flying tales. LoL. We are allowed to golf and fish, but no flying yet. Happy landings.
  7. Thanks lads, managed to locate the plumber, and state my concerns. He agreed should be removed 3to4 months after installation. He will sort it next week. Needless to say I will be out in the garden lol You can never be too carefull. Cheers Edited By fly boy3 on 05/05/2020 14:18:09
  8. Thanks for replies lads. Do not know what he put in the system, but he did mention that he had fitted a magnetic filter Adey ? Will try to get hold of him on mobile to show my concern. Are plumbers working at all due to the lock down ? Cheers
  9. Hi all, three months ago I had new boiler installed. Plumber put some stuff into the installation, and was due to remove it and flush system in a months time. Since Covic19 arrived he is in self isolation and I cannot get hold of him. Is this stuff swirling round in my system ok for a good while, or should it be removed sooner or later. Cheers
  10. How many of us builders have an engineering background. For many, many years I followed the designers plan, and built exactly as required. The thought of adding extra strength (and weight) never occurred to me at least. Lately though. I must say I have been adding a gusset here and there where I think there may be a weakness etc. Have not had a structural failure at all. But I have seen a few wing failures due to pushing the limits off a lightly built plane when flying, many times. Cheers
  11. Come on Chris, let's have the story. You have intrigued me. I agree with JD8, we need entertainment ( if that it what the story is about) during these dark days. LoL
  12. Hi wingman, quite reasonable prices. Can explain to an old guy. How they work ? Do they just record. then you remove card and insert in PC ? Or do they send data to your pc via wi fi etc ? Cheers
  13. I am eighty two in June. Flying regularly for over thirty years. Due to the fine weather, I walk around a local lake every morning around 7.00am. What do I see every day ? three or four fishermen out earlier than I. It is a very quiet area , one road no houses. I could fly my 1.5 mtr electric glider with no bother.. Trouble is lake is one mile from home. The journey from home would be classed, non-essential. Cheers Edited By fly boy3 on 29/04/2020 22:54:30
  14. Hi Cris, nice looking model. If your better half did the covering in a "practice" situation, she has done an exellent job I must say. Covering is my least favourite part of buiding. Cheers
  15. The "can-do" by Nigel Hawes is reputed to be a better flier. Not sure but very similar to Long Ez. This latter plane as already said, "a handful" to fly.. One of the most experienced fliers in ourclub found it quite erratic in flight.
  16. A similar analogy, years ago before mobiles etc had cameras, if you saw a particularly good picture, people would often ask what camera was used lol. It was all down to the photographer. Cheers
  17. Good day to you John, and welcome to the forum. You say it's a long time since last crash. Does this mean you have mastered the art of model plane flying, or you have not flown since last crash ? Cheers
  18. Hi all, due to my advancing years, I need some volume enhancing ear phones or plugs to enable me to hear some video audio on my lap top. Some vids. are extremely quiet. Any ideas please that won't break the bank ? Thanks
  19. Smithonion channel now. Cheers
  20. I agree Cliff. Neat, quick and cheap. He definitely is a modeler. Not only that, it finishes off the model in fine finish. Cheers
  21. Thanks for that Cliff, any info on micro motors and esc,s as I am an ic man lol. Apologies for double post, it's an age thing. Cheers
  22. Hi all, I too may give it a go in these deparate times lol. Not into foam got to be balsa. A few questions please. In balsa would I have to build it bigger to keep wing loading down ? If I built ribs ,what would I cover it with. Finally who supplies all the micro stuff, like thin control rods, horns etc. Apologies for lots of questions. Cheers
  23. I got to smile Cliff, gives a whole new meaning to my old instructors words, "it's flying hands off now it's trimmed" Cheers
