  1. I wasn't going to make any comment about the new site for a week or so to let some of the bugs get fixed etc but I'll jump in and say Yes David, the grey background makes it much better thanks so I hope it stays. +1 for black text as well.
  2. Sussex Police have settled out of court with the couple they arrested over the Gatwick Drone (or non drone) incident. £55,000 compensation to the couple for wrongful arrest but £145,000 to their lawyers !! **Link to BBC** The police also said that some of the reported drone sightings may have been of their own drones so still not clear if there were ever any drones flying at Gatwick so I guess we'll never really know now.
  3. Thanks Chris and FlyinFlynn, That's exactly what I was interested to know. Can't believe it's only 5$ for 10 PCB's and double sided with through hole plating included. That's an absolute steal. When I last dabbled with making PCB's using board from Maplin's, I think the bare board was £8 to £10 before you added the cost of ferric chloride etc etc I wouldn't worry about added shipping delays from China, at least not based on my recent experience. Ordered a switch mode PSU from one Ebay supplier and a metal case from another on 27th March and one was delivered on the 8th April and the other on the 9th April. Thanks again both for the info.
  4. I too think that's an excellent project and will be following with interest. Could you maybe also say more about the JLCPCB suppliers and the process involved, if that isn't being too nosey please? i.e. what type of file(s) you need to supply to them, cost of the PCB in small numbers, is that for a basic PCB with etched tracks and holes drilled, or does it include screen printing etc. Thanks.
  5. Just made it too. Took me close on an hour to do it though. Lets hope it has some benefit.
  6. Hi Bob Thanks for doing this - I shall watch this thread and download your PDF's with interest.
  7. Hi Manny, You've been able to register Autocad Inventor for free as a student but I assume that only lasts for 2 or 3 years then stops ? What happens then ? Presumably you then have to pay full price for it - and I see Autocad has changed to a subscription model now so you have to keep paying again every year. If the software is too expensive now then why invest the time learning it if you have to change to a different, more affordable product later and learn it all over again ? .
  8. Posted by Steven Shaw on 25/01/2016 22:34:48: Please - carry on, I'm still very interested. Agreed - do please continue, and with lots of detail
  9. Posted by Spice Cat on 18/01/2016 21:29:42: Has anybody else been asked to send them a picture of their credit card ? And did you send it ? Been trading on line for nine years and never been asked for this. Personally I wouldn't do it and think you did the right thing. Could it have been a rogue employee?? As nobody else seems to have been asked to send a pic then maybe it was a rogue employee. Perhaps I'll have to try again and see what happens.
  10. I placed an order with them a while back and paid with my credit card, which was all accepted and authorised by the card processing company. The next day I received an email from Bang Good saying my order had been placed on hold until I emailed them a photo of my credit card. As this is not normal practice and I didn't want to get scammed, I declined and my order was cancelled. Has anybody else been asked to send them a picture of their credit card ? And did you send it ?
  11.   Haven't used one myself though have often wondered if they would be a useful purchase whenever I see Maplin's offering them at reduced prices. Alex Whittaker used one to clean a small glow engine in an old article
  12. Me too ! I took advantage of the recent 30% discount and bought 3 full sets of plans & CNC wood but unfortunately one of the plans sent was for a different model. As soon as I received the wrong plan I emailed them about the problem but heard nothing. I've tried again but still have no reply or correct plan. From the experiences above I'm not going to waste time and money on phone calls so I'll keep trying by email and see if they eventually respond. If not then I guess I'll have to ask my credit card company to get involved but seems surprising if MyHobbyStore really are that unresponsive.
  13. Thanks David. The thread you linked is for the online only archive (that can only be read when connected online) and I was meaning the new digital subscription where you download the issue to your own PC so you can read it at anytime, regardless of being connected to the internet or not. As the access to the online only archive is being removed soon (May I think ??) I'm keen to find out if the new downloadable PC App can print pages as my subscription will be due soonish. Thanks again B33
  14. Bump. Does anyone know the answers about printing pages and the plans (above) please ? Thanks B33
  15. Hi I have a question about the new downloadable digital subscription (not the online viewable only archive). When viewing an issue on a Windows PC, can you print out pages ? Actually I have two questions ! Do the downloadable issues have the plan included yet ? Thanks B33
