  1. As an amateur web site builder I can assure you all its not you your computers at fault, any site that uses several animated graphics can`t be anything but slow................ likewise the claims by the providers claiming fastest broadband ever.....soon as you go onto the net, animated graphics everywhere it will be crawling and I can`t see it getting any better in the near future. Just watch out for the conmen claiming to speed up your computer and giving them your details!!! Regards Bob
  2. Thanks for all that in-depth info. I don`t wish to add any tech stuff just my amazing experience. During the 60`s I Iived about 2 miles from RAF Binbrook in Llincolnshire the Lightning's where stationed there at the time and several times a flight of Starfighters would come for a few days and would be seen doing mock Ariel combat. just at the end of the runway was small area to park (about 6 cars)I had a saab 93 at the time.......The lightnings would stand ready for take off about 30 yards away break`s on and full throttle the noise was indescribable and the car just shook Once all planes where airborne they would go into mock combat, the Lightnings could tie the Starfighters in knots amazing! Memories Regards...Bob
  3. Hi to you al! Have been buying this mag for about 10 years now, the first 6 years from the book shop........ a quick flick through. if it looked that it might be of interest buy it, .if not put it back The last 4-5 years have subscribed on thinking that would receive mag before its on the shop shelf (which usually do) would be a chance to get something I might want from front of queue as it where. I received this months mag on Monday at 10am a quick flick through thought I fancy building from the free plan....given codes to quote for CNR and the other wood pack to complete, I`ll order it now I thought on cite nothing tried again on Tuesday nothing tried again today same result. Incidentally same results from Model marking Feel a lot better now with that off my chest, the weather is getting me down Regards Bob Merry Christmas
  4. I find the easiest way with the plane is to stand the plane flat on apiece of 1/4 or 1/2inch balsa with adjuster screw loose .......then with the blade just resting gently on balsa tighten adjuster screw. If it needs a bit more bite just press the blade gently onto the balsa . Also as Plummet has said angle slightly, not square to the direction of cut. Bob
  5. The Vulcan and 2 Lancasters flew overhead in formation over Lincoln 2,15pm. this afternoon. over the site where a memorial to the memory of lost Lancaster crews is to be built. Brilliant! Bob (Lincoln)

  7. Hi all Very slightly off tack but most of the time we go to lots of trouble to build every wing straight and true, then [ mostly with gliders I note ] we see washout specified, can I be so bold as to ask what does washout actually achieve?
  8. If the above apply with new motors ,ignore my post completely .......But if they are not new and have been laying around a wile unprotected from sanding dust, filing any metal etc they can also become quiet noisy. those magnets are good attractors would you believe!
  9. I have Nye on twenty Lipo`s Only had one majorish problem (of my own doing I must confess), after a heavy arrival saw a hint of smoke from 3s2200 ,thought it was a bit risky trying to get to Deans connecter to pull apart, then without thinking cut through twin cable with side cutters. That did make the sparks fly, Luckily the side cutters are well insulated. Bob
  10. Thanks Tim Ill try your Idea, otherwise I might have a lot of 30A`s now. Bob
  11. Hi from a wet and windy Lincoln I have 3 brushless ESC`s that have had their labels come adrift through the winter , they will all be 30-50A,and are all about the same size physically . Is there any way of doing a test (simple for a simple guy ) to ascertain the amperage of each. Thanks Regards Bob
  12. We fly from off a private airfield. our strip is at right angles at the end of main runway, the field is owned by a farmer who himself and other pilots use main runway and hanger, our club rents use of cross strip. All pilots know we fly there and do a full warning circuit before finals and the club has rule that if you see or hear approaching aircraft you land ASAP. This has worked for many years now( no screaming Jets mind) apart from red arrows over occasionally, but they don't land. Cheers Bob
  13. Hi Tony I returned after a 30 odd year break, full of enthusiasm I built 3 planes but could not bring myself to fly them , risking the possible chance of destroying months of work (my pride and joy). After 2 years I decided to buy a cheap foamie that I did not have the same feel for ( twas a discovery) the model that is! I had no problems with flying this and have not looked back since........ it`s great to be back......... bite the bullet......go for it. Regards Bob
  14. Flew my "micro fusion" this afternoon at our site near Lincoln ( UK ) Had my fishing thermals on, well warm except for finger ends, if it keeps like this until Easter then warms up I won`t grumble mind! There was only 2 others at the field, which surprised me though. Happy and healthy new year to you all. Regards Bob

  19. Hi Martyn This brings back mems, during the 1970`s I built the Kwick Fli 3 from a Graupner kit, it had a foam core wing, it flew well but was well under powered with a Merco 35 I had up front (could not afford another motor) so it had to stay. The radio I had was a Simprop 5 , wonder how many remember those early proportionals. Bob
  20. Thanks Tim.... Browsed of all ten model shops in my favourites on my computer, only one stocked K&S range of brass "Gliders Newark" so am sorted thanks...........The last similar to this I built was the Luton Minor about 3-4 years ago, Look forward to this as my next project Regards Bob

  22. Oh dear......... if only there was a button to be able go back to use old site style option, much tidier and user friendly. I have been building web sites for twelve years now and have browsed thousands of sites looking at trends etc, but I feel this one has missed something. I notice a lot are complaining about larger ads Sh....Ill tell you how to get rid of them......... Press Ctl on keyboard at same time scrawl mouse wheel back towards you Regards Bob
  23. Thanks for your comments Guys Have resigned to a recover of three models, won`t have too much trouble getting most of Solarfilm off, most is blistered already. Was going to order more of Giant Sharks stuff, but as often they are out of stock. Lucky I have two other models that are flyable (when the weather gets its act together) Bob
  24. Hi Mike Am 100% electric so have no oil problems and doesn`t show any sign of moisture. One is definitly covered in solarfilm but can`t remember what I used for the other two. Another model that is not affected in any way,I do know is covered in what Giant Shark describe only as "solid colouring film" and is priced at £10.50p per 5mtr roll! Bob
