  1. Yep Chris it was Barry, couldn`t remember his name till you mentioned it, Barry Beech.
  2. 109 sounds good Richard, you know i have a soft spot for those, again down to the multitude of colour schemes to choose from. Would like to support you in terms of buying one of the kits as the more sold the more chance of other models which may be more attractive to me being added, particularly as once flying if keenly priced, quick to build, cheap electric components and easy to hand launch each of us may be able to persuade other members in our club to buy one. I usually take a stall at the Buckminster swap meets and have no problem in sticking some of your kits on the table FOC with one i have assembled as a taster to prospective buyers, anything to help you shift a few more kits to keep us keen WW2 scale builders happy by having someone who listens to what we want and then being able to offer it.
  3. I stand to be corrected but every Typhoon/Tempest model i have seen has needed a church roof of lead to get it to balance due to the short nose, if that is the subject chosen it will need thinking out to get it to balance without lead as the whole point is to have something that has a light wing loading for launching.
  4. Does anyone on here remember the old Mainly Models kits, i built there Hurricane years ago and have the Hellcat kit here to do, Blue Foam sections for the fuz, glue them together, Blue foam wings, balsa tail and fin. Brown paper PVA covering........Simples, quick build, very rugged, they flew on a 3s, scale up slightly if required for this range on 4s sounds good. If you want to see how these were supplied as a kit i will drag the Hellcat box out and photo the contents.
  5. Mitsi Zero/Wildcat, much better colour options than most of the other suggestions, i know this is where we get divisive but Tempest/Fw190 don`t float my boat, if the kit was cheap and to support Richard i would probably put my hand in my pocket but it would go in the kit queue way down the line unfortunately.
  6. Built by one of our clubs best builders and only flown a few times due to ill health, immaculate condition 58" span, fitted with a very clean Thunder Tiger 54 four stroke and all servos, this is a really nice model, much better than a foamy! Pick up from Spalding in Lincs. £185
  7. Great models those Ripmax fighters, had several of the Spits, probably would sell a few of those if still available. Might persaude some to move on from the current 'in' model which seems to be the Ruckas at the two clubs i fly at.
  8. I have a set of those cutters Brian, thanks for the detailed explanation, will give it a go.
  9. I think i will look at replicating this on mine, the legs as on the model are going to be a constant headache which spoils the enjoyment i am currently getting with this model. Could you pm me with more details on your process, was the wing foam removed with a circular cutter in a drill and was that same cutter used to cut your ply discs? Looking forward to flying it again but i feel even a slight bounce on the current set up is going to spring the modified spats back into the wing before the gear returns to where it should be as it has happened already on quite a reasonable touchdown.
  10. Built by one of our clubs best builders and only flown a few times due to ill health, immaculate condition. Selling as airframe only, 58" span, was fitted with a Thunder Tiger 54 four stroke. Pick up from Spalding in Lincs. £125
  11. Interesting leccyfyer, i have been offered a table at the Model Builders show to show the use of foam board and depron to make light cheap models using these easily available materials, maybe a similar one on the next table could show the use of laminating film. I haven`t tried that yet but would be very interested to see how it is done, maybe speak to Manny at the BMFA about it. I believe people will be surprised at what can be done on a low budget with these materials.
  12. Would something along the lines of the Ron`s Hanky Planky Foamy Woamy but adapted for scalish looking Warbirds be the way to go? Cheap to produce for a manufacturer, cheap to buy for the punter with inexpensive gear installed, 3s 2200mah lipo, hand launch. They could be finished in a number of ways, emulsion painted, brown paper/PVA, laminating film etc. As long as they looked sorta scale, quick to build there may be a market, i will have a chat to the guys at my field, i will be seeing 7 or 8 of them tomorrow and will gauge the interest in something like that. At what that may be sold at i may buy one of each model, suggest a Spit and a 109, we all like to fly something other than the usually offered aircraft but if you are looking at dragging a larger quantity of club builders who could put one together in less than a week of evenings those would be the best sellers IMHO. Here is a link to Ron`s build to give an iddea of the construction method.
  13. I like your thinking Richard, most people who fly electric have 3 and 4s packs, my Cambrian Funfighter flies fast on a 3s 2200mah pack and they are available at a very reasonable price, the emulsion tester pots from B&Q are cheap and they will mix any shade/colour you want if you have a sample colour, they simply scan it and mix. I like the idea of hand launch or fixed gear, retracts add work, cost and added complications. A slightly larger lighter airframe is a great idea, i can get cheap reliable small servos from my local model shop for around £5 a pop. Low cost gear and finishing techniques will surely tempt more people to join in.
  14. Any size 109 would get my hand up, whilst the RAF stuff is nice i prefer the colour and variety of the schemes used on the 109. If someone were to produce a few B of B kits that were a quickish builds and didn`t cost an arm and leg to complete it would be great as this winters mass build!
  15. Interesting Anthony, i guess i will just have to put it in a stand and try it to see how well it does run.
  16. Wanted, a wrap around silencer to fit a Zenoah 26 or 38, i know they are available new, looking to save a few pennies!
  17. I would be looking to use a Pitts type wrap around if i fitted a Zenoah, i do like these engines with the magneto, i have a very old 23cc and it is so reliable and easy to flick start.
  18. Very nice laser cut balsa kit, will build into a very light model for electric r/c, has comprehensive build instructions, plans, plastic cowl and canopy and nice laser cut parts 30.3" wingspan, these kits are no longer available. £75 UK postage £8
  19. Flting petrol already Paul, did a fly in on friday an hour and a half away, smell not a problem. Not using ready mixed, i mix my own at the required percentage.
  20. Won't fly glow, cant stand the oily mess. For what i paid for the engine i coukd convert it back to glow and more than recoup my money. If i have problems running it as a petrol maybe i will do that and buy a different petrol engine, i wanted a 4 stroke due to noise restrictions at one of my clubs.
  21. Yeah didn't want to run it on glow fuel, looking to run it as a petro motor.
  22. I didn't buy it from them, it was bought from an ad on one of the used model sites
