  1. Were you holding in rudder to keep the model tracking straight on the ground as you rotated?
  2. Let's not speculate too much on what happened please guys, the BOI will do that for us. It is a tragic loss and let's all keep our finger crossed the Reds will be back in our skies soon, in a time of immense spending cuts by the government this could be the excuse they need to save a few extra million!
  3. A sad day, RIP Jon and my thoughts are with your family.
  4. Pete, For the dents and crushed parts of the model, have you tried the boiling water trick? I did it on my Freewing Typhoon to great effect, very pleased with the results. A lick of paint and your sea fury will look as good as new.
  5. Just a quick question, I'm on a rolling subscription it seems but as of November I'll be moving abroad as some of you know.   Is it possible to change my address to the UAE and still receive magazine through the post on a monthly basis? I realise this will cost extra and I'm willing to pay a little extra to receive the magazine and keep up with what's happening back at home.   Thanks
  6. BEB, did you include a picture? I think it may be the picture that's stopping the advert from loading?
  7. No Alan, that's me putting them in the sales section of the forum, I wanted to put them in the classifieds which is separate to the forum, but yes, I have got lots to get rid of

    Selling up

Hey guys,   You may have noticed me flooding the sales tonight, no I've not been looting in London before you ask, I'm thinning out my fleet and spare parts prior to me moving to Dubai, I will take a few planes with me but the rest needs to go.   As sad as it is to strip a good plane down it makes more sense to do this than trying to sell an expensive complete aircraft that would be worth upwards of £800 which most people can't afford these days.   I've priced just about everything to sell, most of it at almost half price and all this equipment is almost brand new, the aircraft flew twice but I can't keep her so she needs to go.   My second Bluenose Mustang may have the same fate, I'm not decided yet?   Lots more parts to sort through yet so I'll keep posting them up on here first, if they dont sell here I'll pop them on fleabay.   Thanks for all the help and advice you've offered over the past few years, I'll still come on here to touch base from time to time.   Thank you all.
  9. Hey guys, I've tried 4 times to load a few adds for some parts but every time the advert fails to load and an error message comes on the screen after about 2 minutes.
  10. Ross, if you're just wanting a foamy park flyer to get some stick time with I might be able to help and save you some cash! I'm leaving the UK behind for a new life in the sunshine as a Mercenary so need to down size my collection of planes, I have 3 parkzone warbirds to get rid of, a P47, P51 and a BF109 all that would suit your needs perfectly. Give me a shout.
  11. No need to wait for a calm day Eric, it copes nicely with a bit of wind making it feel like you're flying on a calm day. Do you have it set up with a DX7 so the modes can be switched? I'm sure you'll love it, mine currently lives in a 90mm EDF Eurofighter Typhoon to help with high angle of attack flying and vectored thrust. What airframe is it fitted to?
  12. Posted by NigelH on 10/08/2011 11:58:46: Posted by James40 on 10/08/2011 10:51:46: 24 years in the RAF, currently a Flying Crew Chief on C-17s Basically I'm the engineer on the crew that deals with any technical problems or engineering issues.   Not long agao, I was chatting with a guy at Waddington who did just the same thing. Could it have been you ?   I'f it was a guy on a visiting C17 at Waddington then it could have been, however, Waddington use Crew Chiefs but not a Flying Crew Chief as they have Air Eng's and Airborne Techs to deal with inflight issues on thier fleet of aircraft. The Waddington Crew Chief is a guy who will be in charge of a team of guys to maintain the aircraft where as the dirty fleet (C130, C17) have a single guy to deal with everything.
  13. There was a club at RAF Brize Norton, now closed down, there was a club at Witney, now closed down. I believe the nearest club is 45 minutes away so too far for me.   There arent any clubs so I don't get to fly much.
  14. 24 years in the RAF, currently a Flying Crew Chief on C-17s Basically I'm the engineer on the crew that deals with any technical problems or engineering issues. Will be leaving the RAF September this year to work for AMMROC in Dubai, UAE as a Flying Crew Chief on the UAE Air Force C-17s. Same job, triple the money!
  15. There aren't any clubs or examiners in this area so although I'd love to sit my A test, I can't. For this reason I haven't paid my bmfa subscription this year as it was a waste of money.
  16. Would it be better to use an epoxy and glass cloth instead of the tissue and dope to stop the shrinking?
  17. Surely the nasty looking gloss finish can be fixed with a few tins of matte spray to give it a less toy like appearance?
  18. Thanks for the link Pete, interesting result and pretty much what I expected.   Is it worth with our new forum software to carry out the poll again and see if we get the same result, especially with more and more foamy and artf kits on the market, the age of the average model flyer may be dropping?
  19. I'm interested to find out what's the average age of the foum user?   I have a number in my head that's around the same age as that when you start groaning as you bend down to pull your socks on in the morning and getting out of bed in the morning is a sequence of events and not a youthful spring.   Can we please do a poll to find the average age?
  20. This is probably a better bearing for a motor sealed bearing .
  21. You need either, One 6 x 15 x 5mm Bearing, or Two 6 x 12 x 4mm Bearings.   SKF only do 6 x 19 x 6 here   However, here's one from a UK company. Just visit Simply Bearings and type in the size youre looking for. Hope that helps?
  22. Well it looks like parkzone have come up with another fantastic looking parkfly model in the shape of the Spitfire MkIX. From what I've read on other forums, this one flys even better than the P-47D and that is a lovely flying model so this one should be fantastic.   Parkzone Website   Looks to have some nice scale detail, just a shame they still have the aligator skin, most other foamies have moved on from that but from 4 paces away I guess you wont see it.   Anyone tempted by this one? I would but I'm about to have a clearence sale of all my hardly flown aircraft before I make the move to Dubai. I'm only keeping one or two aircraft to take with me. 23. Parkzone have just released a Spitfire that looks quite slow on the video clips.
  24. There's been a great deal of polls of late David, what's all this info gathering going towards?
  25. It's just a larger surface area acting on the slower moving airflow and the fact that it's using angle of attack instead of positive/negative camber that might improve control authority at low speed.   Only a thought.
