  1. Ross, Sorry to hear that ... it was a very nice model! Leo
  2. Thanks Peter and KC for the "slot" method. I may use it when I build the Harmony fuse as well as Oodalally! Leo
  3. Peter, I must have been having a Senior Moment ... of course it goes across just like the Harmony does and is strong as a Wild Horse! Forgive me me and thank you very much! Now to find some "real" piano wire!  Our little Hobby Shop is basically RC Vehicles. Leo Edited By Luther Oswalt on 28/08/2013 21:35:40
  4. Hi Peter, What is to prevent the wheel from twisting on landig with just glue holding the wire in a slot withe just the pressure from a small pc of sheet medal held in place by wood screws? I remember some folks folding Ring Master Profile stunters in the very old days. The wheels ended up it the wins! I'm just wondering and the Engineer in me says Hmmmmm? I understand Harmony and it looks just fine but I don't understand what prevents the gear rotating in the slot in Oodalally. Got to run. Leo
  5. Hi Peter, As soon as I finish Harmony I will start building Oadalally. It is very nice simple plane ... just what I like best ... of course with the Great Looks. I have the Oodalally plans from RCME and am reviewing them. My question is the Landing Gear (U/C) on the Oodalally does not look like it would live long as drawn. The landing gear on the Harmony is some what similar but, is very strong. Am I just missing something? Leo
  6. Hi Olly, To clear up what said above .... Good 5/8" thick plywood with rafters on 24" centers would be strong enough without purlins. Here we are concerned with high wind loads where I would think you don't have that problem to the degree we do. Hurricanes are bad guys! In this part of the State so far since we have been here we have just spent many days without power due trees falling on power lines. And, of course, lots of rain. The code required me use 6"x6" post in 5' post holes, 12" in dia. Filled with concrete. For small building which was 4'x8'! Permanent structures are designed for 120 mph winds. There are excepts to this but I will not bore you with all that. Anyway, press on! Your doing great! Leo
  7. Olly, I'm bit surprised to see you didn't use Purlins as a part of your shed's roof structure. They would have added some real strength to it.
  8. Hi Olly, This one word threw me until I Google it, Dwangs! We know that to be a "Fire Break" since a wall interior will become a "Chimney" in a fire without them! Glad to see you are on the down hill side of the build! Leo
  9. Pete, Thank you. I will try adding digits fore/aft! Leo
  10. Pete, I have not had a problem with the subscription number in the past, now it needs a 10 digit number and I see I only have 8 digits! Anyway you can have my subscription checked or forward the correct one?Or who should I contact. My subscription is through a Canadian Firm which handles the USA. Thanks Leo
  11. I may have been out in the shop instead of on line, so , where did those good old "free to subscribers" digital issues go that I had dropped the old hard copies for? Leo
  12. WollstonFlyer - I must have been looking for a little tree and missed this whole Forrest! Thank you for pointing me in the correct direction! Leo
  13. I don't know where to put this so just stuck it here. What a surprise when I arrived at this site today! I have not had an opportunity to visit in several days. This is a great looking site, so much so, that I wasn't sure I had the correct URL in my bookmarks so I got out and tried again and came right back. Congrads on a fine job! Leo
  14. Oily - With all that wood ... maybe you should roof the whole back yard! I bet your wife would have a bit to say about that! Leo
  15. Olly - I just saw this and instantly thought of your shed. How to save room when not using your benches, thought not sure when that would occur, but, anyway, for you consideration. The folding legs for this thing could also be made of 1x4s ... http://www.woodsmithtips.com/2013/05/23/fold-down-worktable/
  16. My favorite models are the 1/2A Civy Boy FF and, of course, the CL Ringmaster! There have been many others but these are the two I most became attached too! Leo
  17. That's Great News Olly .... How's every one doing? Give your Mrs. "Olly" a big hug from everyone and a big congrat also! Have you got a buddy box ready for him or does he realy need one! Leo
  18. Hi Olly - How's the Shed coming along? Leo
  19. Thanks ... I have always thought the airfoil shape had more to do with Free Flight than any others. I always considered the angle of incidence and the AOA, the trust line had much more to do with models than air foil. In my youth, tho that was long ago, I flew a lot of free Fight and under cambered wings always seem to glide best ... but ... I must admitt the flat bottom wings were not doing any worse. Besides, covering a under cambered wing with silkspan had it's moments. Just my observations of sport flying models! Again, thanks for the information. Leo
  20. Peter - Could you tell which AirFoil you used on the Harmony? Thanks Leo
  21. Hi Olly, Is that Huffing and Puffing noise I hear coming from afar you builting your Shed and, of course, the Garden Shed? Leo
  22. Olly, You are making progress no matter the pain so to speak! I notice that some sheds are insulated and some are not, so, do you all heat the sheds. I would think you would, tho you guys are a heardy lot! Leo
  23. I have not loaded TWAIN in many years. If it is usb, then, just do as Martian said above. Happy Easter! Leo
  24. Perhaps the best of all for me were Arden .09 and .19 Glo Engines. The most flown were many Fox 35 stunt engines ... they are great engines! and don't forget the Cox .049s! Leo
