  1. Here's an electric powered all Depron Sharkface I made a few years ago. The eyes and teeth were inlays of white Depron with the red lips simply painted on. Having built two original single channel (Macgregor) Cox .049 powered Sharkfaces back in the 70's, the 3 Channel leccy version was a bit bland by comparison!
  2. Any thoughts on a mass launch yet? I enjoyed the Radjet event a couple of years ago. Maybe a Shark(face) fest? Or the Hobbyking Tundra? There seem to be an aweful lot of these about and they'd make an ideal candidate for some low level antics. Just a thought.....
  3. A very simple and quick build would be the 'Vertigo II' by Frank Van Den Bergh. It would be a good candidate for electric power too as the whole top decking could easily be made into a battery hatch. An Eflite Power 52 (590 KV) should be man enough to haul it about in a reasonably quick manner.
  4. Which style/mode is best? Check out past and present aerobatic champions and you'll find all types represented.
  5. I understand Andy, but the Chinese are well known for copying just about anything invented in the rest of the wide world, but unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it, apart from vote with our wallets of course, and not many of us will do that if a bargain is to be had.
  6. Thanks for the heads-up Josip, it looks a respectably fast foamie at a fair price so I've ordered one to replace my long departed Multiplex Dogfighter.
  7. Agreed It does look similar, but when all said and done isn't imitation is the greatest form of flattery? Good designs often get copied and two that spring to my mind are the Jart and Dreamflight's Alula, but in the great scheme of things does it really matter? Maybe the the original EFX was marketed with full approval so why get annoyed?
  8. Really? Which particular design was copied?
  9. Had a few makes in my time and in chronological order they are; Macgregor, Horizon, Acoms, Sanwa, Futaba, JR, Spektrum and currently Multiplex.
  10. Posted by john stones 1 on 28/01/2017 20:02:28: They should triple your road tax, to fund NHS dealing with all the damage you've done to people through "passive " inhalation. John Hmm, then maybe the majority of the NHS ambulances shouldn't be diesel so they don't cause any further damage to the patients victims they're picking up?
  11. Banning diesel cars in city centres? What about the pollution from diesel taxis, buses tradesmen's vans and delivery lorries? Let's not forget the majority of shipping vessels in the world which are chucking out tonnes of diesel pollution on an hourly basis. Yet again the private motorist has to suffer at the behest of our wonderful politicians. Heck, it wasn't too long ago the government were actively encouraging us to buy diesel cars! Personally, I drive a Škoda 1.6 diesel (with DPF) to and from work, and after 42000 miles from new I've yet to have any issues. But then I've always used fuel with a low bio content, BP.
  12. Totally agree with Percy. As the old saying goes, 'you only get what you pay for'.
  13. Hi Glen, I posted my electric conversion setup a couple of pages ago, but I've reproduced here for you. Please note the original post mentioned an Eflite Power 60, this was a typo, it should have read 'Power 52'. "For anyone that's thinking of going the electric route, you may find that the supplied battery tray isn't of much use for a 6s set up (5s is recommended in the manual), and that you will most likely need to manufacture your own tray as I did. Also, as I elected to use an Eflite Power 52 the supplied stand offs were too long so I fitted my own adjustable units to achieve the correct spinner clearance . The AUW of my particular Acrowot with a 6s 4000mAh battery is 2.98 Kg (6.5Lbs) and has unlimited vertical performance using a Graupner G-Sonic 13" x 8" prop and an aerobatic flight duration of 5-7 mins, dependant on throttle use."
  14. Posted by Timothy Harris 1 on 20/01/2017 11:43:20: ..... By the way I don't believe dead sticks are a good reason to choose electric, I have seen plenty of electric planes having to make forced landings too😊, but that's another discussion. I'm a committed IC fan especially for this model. Hi Timothy, I would have sent you a private message but your profile isn't public so I'll make a very brief interlude here: There are many other reasons for perhaps choosing electric power in the Acrowot (and other airframes), but eradicating dead sticks was one of my main reasons, not the sole reason. Also, I've been flying various electric powered aircraft for many years now and have yet to experience a deadstick landing. Bill.

    electric extra

I can't wait to see the flight tests of this little hot rod: **LINK**
  16. I'm sorry to see your bent AcroWot Jonathan, but I'm not sure that nylon bolts would have prevented much less damage than what's already been done judging by the size of those mole hills! The possibility of deadstick issues is just one the reasons I've converted to electric power after using ic motors for well over 30 years of model flying.
  17. Hi Cliff, here are some photos I took of Rapide G-AIYR at Penzance aerodrome in the summer of '78

  20. irrelevant post.   Edited By Bill_B on 13/01/2017 18:51:08
  21.   Hi Peter, don't worry about the wire retainer as its only there to stop the wings sliding off the wing joiner, not that they would on mine as they're a snug fit. Due to the alleged weakness of the canopy I decided to fit a magnetic switch (T9 HobbySport) to avoid repeatedly taking the canopy on and off and thus eventually splitting the thin vac formed moulding. Also, I've simply secured my battery with a cable tie until such time as the CG is optimised and then I'll install it similar to yours. The small lump of lead is also a temporary addition for fine tuning, if required.     Magnetic switch is minuscule! Edited By Bill_B on 10/01/2017 17:02:42
