Couldn't get any text on the post. Just happen to be overlooking Croyde Bay working my way back home after an epic bike ride and heard a noise to my right. Assuming it's a C130 or similar.

I'm there tonight so I guess it will be drone free. What's interesting is the general public, based on that report, seem to have a very low tolerance to them being flown in innapropriate spaces and seem to be "policing" the problem themselves. Its like it's become a very antisocial activity frowned upon by most, so good news in that context but used the correct way they've become accepted as a very positive force for good. I hope the culprits get hefty fines, banning orders and equipment confiscation. Let's see how the current Laws and ANOs deal with them.

Picking up a little theme from the good news thread there seems to be one or two cyclists lurking. Interested to hear what sort of bikes/riding some of us do. To kick off I'll show my cards. Calibre Triple B full suspension 27.5" wheels. Downhill, bike parks and rougher XC Cube Reaction C62 Carbon 29" wheels. General XC most off-road stuff. Specialized Sirrus X Comp Carbon 700 wheels. Tarmac fitness riding and long distance rides. Specialized (very old) Hotrock 26" wheels with Hope hubs and brakes. Pub visits. Enjoy riding as much as I do flying. Tony If you've not already decided my vote goes to FrSky based on great value, high quality equipment, telemetry flexibility and of course OpenTx. Try and have a close look at the Horus or Taranis. Channels were mentioned earlier, I use 9 on my Wot 4.

That reminded me, I was also going to say the two quality SAB pilots and models were memorable for the excitable and great to listen to, hugely enthusiastic Italian commentator who was quite unique in his delivery and all the better for it.. The pyro show was a spectacle but I did note, after the impact, a black model end it's useful life by spearing itself into the pits area which was quite some distance from the pyro flight line so clearly something went wrong but also shows the impact was still away from the crowd demarcation line. Will definitely attend for the Saturday and evening flying next year.

First visit for me, always clashed with other events even though I've been going to the odd show since Sandown and Sywell. Have to say I was very impressed. Went today and although the weather wasn't quite June it didn't hamper the flying and apart from one short sharp shower it was OK. Conditions underfoot were no problem. The Grobs and spit were a bonus. Hugely impressed by the Quad racing setup with the split screen showing the action. Will take my goggles next year for the full experience. The Heli section was fun with the commentator really helping to make the connections between crowd and pilots, enjoyed the little bit with Iron Man and the lady pilot. Car racing also fun. Blown away by, apologies can't remember the name, the young 11 year old Israeli pilot and Jace the Ace. They put on a duo slot which was the best flying I've ever seen. Enjoyed the mass fly with the PB models and watching Jace, I think, rifle roll his model very low, very fast and very straight. Well done Mr Bishop and the team for a very slick event. Great to see proper beer being available and a note to myself to take bike next year to make it quicker to make it around the site. ✈😀

Great picture. They're in it for the long haul. Great afternoon at our local community beer festival. Alarm set for an early start for Weston Park. Good news is I still have something great to look forward to for this weekend.

I'm going to Weston Park for the first time. Good news for some lucky retailer as I will be in purchase mode but I will keep some back for the beer ⛺ Fingers crossed for some more luck with proper 🍺😍

Luckily I don't have a back problem but I do get my mag reserved at a local non chain newsagent. The reason is those irritating, mostly over 60, men who stand in the front of shelves shamelessly reading the magazines completely blocking any sight of or access to your favourites. I think this famously cluttered and outdated big high street retailer should have either a "No Reading" boundary line or a holding pen signed " Please Stand Here if You Just Want to Read and Not Buy. We Are Not a Library". 🙌

Last nights episode not as entertaining as E1, I think, but still a fascinating insight into the company and inner workings and would quite happily watch more of the same. In terms of Airfix, I build a range of types and manufacturers and the current range of new tool kits are top quality, I've just built the 1/48 See Fury and found it excellent, they don't do 1/35 armour to the best of my knowledge. God forbid, it would be a huge loss if Airfix were to leave the scene as they are a very competent player in the model market, I've got the big Hellcat on order and are looking forward to some other new tool stuff. Just waiting to see a decently priced 1/24 Stuka to complete my set, whilst very old and crude moulds they do build into some very atmospheric subjects.

Trevor, The Tank Museum now does two "model" shows a year now. One of the best museums in the world and on these days they have a large number of plastic kit traders, some stunning displays by plastic kit clubs, tutorial/lecture sessions, RC military vehicles, a track set up for RC diggers trucks etc, the Airfix Make & Take for kids which we all might be surprised at how many very young boys and girls take part and walk away proudly with a hand built and painted Spitfire etc and they have a very low key outdoor flying display by the local club add in tours of their restoration collections and you have a super day out. Highly recommended. John Ps entry fee great value but my pockets took a hammering with more trips back to the car than I dare admit. Edited By Devcon1 on 11/03/2019 07:18:53

Interesting point Ken, I know of some youngsters who are into plastic kits and there was certainly a young lad sat round the table at the Plastic Kit Club on the programme but they are a minority. I wonder if we were just a minority in the same way many years ago as I suspect if you looked at the profile of RC, Train and Airfix stuff 40 years ago it was the then older generation who had, similar to now, the buying power. I think it's been said before but I think we will always have an older age profile in the hobby and it will always be so. The 15 year old will at some stage some grow old and transmute into a shed dweller just like many of the great characters on the programme. Looking forward to Episode 2 and what a great personality Simon Kohler is.

Good shout Geoff. Nearly missed this. Watched episode 1, some great characters, particularly the Curator of the museum. There surely is a slot for a very focused look at our interests in the James May style, I know we had the BOB series which was great. Given plastic bashing is my other passion, current project a cutaway Mosquito. I was one of the thousands who have the Hellcat on Pre Order, can't wait. How true is SABLE.

Almost finished, just need to add some more decoration. The under the skin bits are temporary tattoos which after a coat of Johnsons Klear should be fine. I used some old Revell 1/32 F14 plastic kit underwing fuel tanks cut in half to make the 2 of the servo shrouds.

Very sad news. I only met Dave once at a Greenacres event, he was such a welcoming and open man whose enthusiasm and energy was boundless and infectious. I also had the pleasure of being told off by him on this forum. His insight, balance and ability to wade through arguments and make both sense and offer alternative views was a massive contribution to this forum. Whenever I saw a reply from BEB I knew it was well worth reading. Can't imagine his family's loss.
