  1. I read that as the centre two ribs being sheeted, probably with 1/16th sheet. That said, that would mean that the back end of the carbon rod is just waving about in space...... which seems pointless, so now I don't know and understand your problem. I have come across lots of errors in plans over a few years. I usually just make something up! stu k
  2. Thats a clever piece of kit. I have a biggish twin nearing completion, one wing has four servos, the other three so it has the ability to cut down on the rats nest wiring that is building up. I guess that my only reservation is that it then makes the single remaining plug super critical, which might not be such a good idea in my situation stu k
  3. Hi Chris, Would you mind explaining this set up a little more and how it can be made to work using FRSky receivers
  4. Likewise, Ordered from the Int'n'l warehouse on 4/3/14 and on the doorstep 13/4 It works for me anyway! stu k
  5. Hi Steve, Thanks for that but the l/e molding is no more. I haven't had a full on search yet but I saw on youtube someone flying an AutoG with 2inch balsa blades. They must have been weighted at the front or perhaps laminated to a bit of hardwood. Either way, I might as well get to know how to do them. I'd like to do the Panther a/g before long I'll lety you know if I find anything useful stu k
  6. Hi All, I have one of these as my first Autogyro, three flights straight out of the box but then Sir Isaac won on the final flight due to me getting disorientated. Despite a pretty high speed thump into the ground, damage is restricted to fuselage broken in two (easily stuck back together) and two rotor blades broken..... thats it -if you discounted the decals all flaking off. All in all, pretty good I thought. Can someone point me towards any info on making replacement blades please? thanks stu k
  7. OK, I understand what you are saying, Its up to you to make up your own mind. Final word from me is that If you post your circumstances on either Peppipoo or MoneySavingExpert there are people on there that will help you in your specific circumstances Either way, please keep coming back to this thread and let us know what happens. I hope that they get fed up and leave you alone very soon cheers stu k
  8. These parking companies are an infestation that are appearing everywhere. Like clamping companies, they will go for so long until the groundswell of opinion forces the politicians to do something about them. That said, those in the know have been very successful in getting the charges kicked into touch using their own parking appeals provisions or winning at Court. - It is essential to understand what works and what will not. Doing it right will get them off you back and cost the Parking Company money - result! Please don't just hope that it will all go away, -it might, - it might not. Better to be proactive. stu k
  9. Well, One, it's a positive development that someone should speak for GS on here. Two, personally, I don't think that GS will reappear in anything like its GC guise. It may well become another hobby retailer, - I'd be happy to be proved wrong.....
  10. Land rent £100 per acres and we have around four acres. ( A bit tight but it serves) Grass cutting is in house but adds a couple of hundred. What we need are more members! stu k
  11. There have been many people who have received a Court Summons, one company alone has issued literally thousands. Win or Loss at County Court does not set a precedent and expenses are restricted. I agree that these invoices dressed as fines are without merit of any kind, I just wanted to underline that simple 'ignore all'. in some cases. may not be the best course to follow. stu k
  12. Which company issued the 'ticket' Some are known to be toothless and never attempt Court. Others are pretty tenacious. However it seems that a winning formula has been found which, so long as properly presented, has worked very well with those that find themselves seated in front of a Judge.
  13. I had a look on the GS site the other day At the time ownership changed I did wonder if it had been bought out with the intention of killing it off, or at best morphing it into every other UK model outlet. It was, I fear, too good (for us punters) to be allowed to live. stu k
  14. Mk 1 eyeball is all that I've used.... are you sure that you need a new one?
  15. Nice set up that you have there, What are you going to build? stu k
  16. where are you trying to ship from & to. Many people have found it better to arrange something privately with a fellow modeller making the same trip for other reasons. Not heard of any commercial company that will do this for reasonable rates
  17. The DVLA angle has been vigorously persued by numerous people in the past and got nowhere. These companies have formed themselves into an association- 'The British Parking Ass'n 'to give themselves an air of legitimacy and the DVLA has agreed that they have reasonable cause to have owner information from DVLA records on payment of the usual fee (which if you think about it, adds up to a lot of dosh for the DVLA) Similarly the planning permission angle has also been tried, Cameras on poles may need PP however absence of said PP doesn't even slow them down. Remember this is not Council or Police enforcement where observance of rules regs and fair play may have a bearing. These people are after your money! The Civil law does not allow these people to charge punitive damages or enter into unfair contracts and to get rid of you have to employ the same tools as they are trying to do against you. Beat them at their own game. The conduct of the DVLA is pretty shameful for a government agency but for the moment, that's how it is. sk
  18. Very interested in following your methods here. I take it that you will skin the foam with something to give you a hard shell? Why do you prefer expanding foam to white polystyrene foam or even blue foam? Seems a relatively easy way to get a shape... keep posting! stu k
  19. Guys!! you should know that the advice to ignore these tickets is no longer correct and was changed by the ill named 'Protection of Freedoms Act 2012' Prior to this Parking Companies could only invoice the driver but only find out information from DVLA about the car owner. Provided the owner did not cough to being the driver, they were up the creek. Since then, they can, subject to certain condition, seek redress from the vehicle owner and some companies are persuing claims into the Courts These 'fines / invoices' car still be defeated but these is a procedure to follow and the right buttons have to be pressed. First port of call is the retailer especially if you have any proof of spending there. they can get the invoice quashed with the least effort. Failing that a soft appeal to the Parking Company on the understanding that they will always reject the appeal but requiring a POPLA code to go tpo the independant appeals tribunal. The written appeal to POPLA mustr say the right things and a win is guaranteed. muck it up and you may find yourself in Court. Still a very winnable situation but much more hassle and time wasted. The source of all info are the parking forums, Peppipoo, The Parking thread on Money Saving Expert and 'The Parking Prankster' plus many others. Don't stick your head in the sand hoping that it will go away. These Parking Companies are springing up everywhere, retailer who bring them in do not deserve our custom, all the shysters who used to clamp cars are now in this game. After much grief, the well informed are getting them on the back foot but there is a massive majority who are not well informed who are collectively paying over vast sums. Be warned, Do not ignore and hope for the best cheers stu k
  20. Some long time ago, my former club lost its flying site and an approach was made to the Council. to cut to the chase, a piece of land was offered which had none of the attributes needed for a flying site, it was untouched grass and weeds, surrounding by tall abandoned hedges, a non starter really. In the absence of any better offer, many people set to and cut out a small patch, which after twenty five years is now a large, well manicured grass field that would be the envy of any club. The moral of the story being that you might get an offer but its unlikely to be a 'good to go' patch.
  21. OK then, No CG in there, I don't know where the info came from, just something in the back of my mind. stu k
  22. Very nice, it will be an interesting model when finished. I don't know why I think so but I always thought that Chris Golds had a hand in these kits. Could he have been the designer? stu k
  23. Looks very nice! I'm always surprised that there aren't more WW1 monoplanes around in model form, - all the character and much less rigging! What are the vital stats? Watching with great interest anyway stu k
  24. I'm a long stick / TX tray flier. I started just holding and thumbs on top but when I tried learning heli flying a few years ago I moved over to a tray and longer sticks and found it much better. When I tried the same tray with a fixed wing I nearly crashed it was so different. I stuck with it and can now swop from tray to thumb on sticks no problem at all. I prefer the long stick / tray as I find it easier in slow rolls etc to co-ordinate the rudder but there's not much in it really. The tray is also good for hand launching as the right hand remains on the stick for any immediate correction - post chuck. The down side of tray flying is that you can't offer the TX to someone else to have a go. I current TX is a Multiplex. On their set, one of the extended sticks has three button. I single button on top which has been used for bomb drop & banner release. Press and the servo travels to the opposite end, release and it returns to the start position. On the vertical face are two buttons which fall naturally under the finger tips. Perfect for retracts. Top button = wheels up Bottom button = wheels down. It means that the wheels can be sucked up the moment the wheels leave the ground and that the fingers don't have to leave the sticks at a critical moment in the flight. nice !
