  1. Can a faulty ESC with a bec cause the bind to fail on the receiver
  2. Hi I have recently moved to the Aylesbury area and would like to meet with other local enthusiasts i am interested in most disciplines including slope soaring .Regards Barry .
  3. When your flying you rc model whose gonna be policing the every move ie; height because I know there is nobody to check mine and until its made law to have height telemetry i could not accurately judge the height ? Edited By Basa on 22/07/2018 12:01:19
  4. That would have been interesting if the motor had started . Should have removed the prop , unless it the motor was not connected.
  5. Can any body tell me if there is any slope soaring sites in or around Evesham please .
  6. I had three off the tucano's all the wings built with sheet balsa as per original instructions . They flew extremely well and could be fast depending on power set up due to low wing profile and low drag , but also could glide well on landing , they could also be flown slowly with no bad stall characteristics .
  7. Hi Mel , it could a few things not quite right as some have already suggested or could simply be that you may not be putting enough pull on the bungee , one has to be ' brave ' on how much tension is required to keep it on the hook . When released it should not need elevator but needs to climb at a very steep rate using rudder to keep straight on line and into wind . The steep angle of climb should maintain tension to keep it on line until the glider is over the bungee anchor point , when it should come off the hook . Please ensure that the anchor cannot pull out when under tension . Hope this helps.
  8. I had been flying for several years when I was given a 60 inc wing span German built trainer which was rather heavy but came with a 40 sized glow motor and tx , This transmitter had a batt meter built in with a green and red section . The needle was in the green , I had been flying for some five minutes when at a few hundred feet the engine went to full throttle along with down elevator there was a high pitch screaming all the way down untill the delayed thud was heard from the next field . After getting home I found the ' Battery Meter ' was a R/Frequency meter and the tx battery was flat . As a foot note an elderly gentle man came over to me who had been an RAF recovery airman and said that the noise of this out of control diving plane brought back memories of his service time but was sorry that I had crashed it .
  9. There is a lot of second hand 'drones' helicopters and aircraft being sold on the market , I recently sold a multi rotor and a helicopter from a car boot sale and both customers wanted them for presents to pass on . How would any future regulation or even safety advise work in these circumstances ? The problem is that to many people they are just toys and why would they have even heard of insurance or of BMFA , CAA or RCM&E .
  10. I find these forum articles about Tony,s Harrier really interesting along with the technical aspects . Looking forward to the RCM&E features in March.
  11. The previously mentioned restrictions could simply apply to unmanned aircraft , our local sports field where we used to fly simply put up a notice board early this year stating that , unmanned aircraft are not legally permitted to be flown here, Is this the future wording that could apply to all model flyers ?
  12. Who,s going to police it , in spite of increasing penalties for using phones whilst driving they do not appear to be able to stop that , is any body going to be able to enforce any bans or restrictions on the 1000s of ' drone ' users in the country ?
  13. I have been flying for some 18 yrs usually from council council owned fields , In the early days glow powered a/c and in later years electric . I do not fly near people or property and am insured . The only complaint I have had was noise related when using glow power , in the last 13 yrs or so using electric power I personally have not had any complaints , but have had many compliments from all ages and gender from the public . I also slope soar from my local cliffs over looking the sea , occasionally sharing the lift with hang gliders and of course giving each other good understanding of separation whilst flying . The only cost to me over the years has been for insurance.
  14. Not enough ground clearance at the point of impact ?
  15. Slough Radio Control Models I used to love that shop even though I lived 120 miles away , my daughter lived near by , but the problem is if you don' t use you'l loose it .
  16. I find it easy to make a decision just ask the wife , the answer is always No!
  17. There are many variables in this this question , firstly you need confidence in both your air craft and your flying skills , then the wind direction and whether the wind is steady or gusty . And of course as has been already mentioned your flying site setting . I some times push myself to fly in strong winds because I like the challenge and does improve the skills.
  18. I have recently built the X Kraft from free plan in Mays RCM&E , using. mainly previous parts and wood that I already had . Spec as follows; Out runner b/l 2826-10 1400kv with a 7x6 prop and a 30a esc ,all powered by a 1000 mah 3s li-po . AUW of 481g . I covered it with red white and blue Solafilm to celebrate Brexit and Team GB . She flies superbly with aileron and elevator and should have a gold medal.
  19. Amazing !!! thanks KiwiKid
  20. I have been flying some 18 years including flying gliders at a good distance and height away from me , you do not want too take your eyes of these as they can be difficult to find again. But when you are landing how are you able to put the plane down with out looking at the landing strip in advance ?
  21. Have been slope soaring today at Corton cliffs Lowestoft the required east wind was steady , the sun was out and overlooking the sea , also met and shared the air space with some hang glider friends. A great day.
  22. Glyn not sure on this but could be the dx6i is ok with the receiver installed but not with your dx9 . I believe that there is a non compatibility between dx6i and dx61x could be the same with a dx9x ?
  23. I have recently lost my flying field of some 18 years , this was a council run large field mainly used for foot ball, we all ways had official permission to fly there when foot ball was not on . The rules were to fly from the north east end and in spite off all of us flying small to med sized electric A/C and insured , we were aware that one resident living out side off the boundary at the southern end of the field was always trying to stop us using the field, then one day a novice pilot let his model fly away and crashed in to her garden she made a complaint which lost all of us the use of this facility. My question is how will registration help in this example and who is going to police it ?
  24. I also lost a canopy , got a telephone call 2 weeks later when a dog walker found it . I have always put my phone number in any gliders that I have had over the years , this paid off when I lost a home made fournier motor glider which went up in the strongest thermal that I had experienced in my 18 years of flying , I could not get it to come down and disappeared forever going upwards , I got a call to pick it up later that evening close to an infant school , also may be a good reason for having BMFA insurance ?
