Closing The Battle of Britain Chapel
Wilco Wingco replied to Wilco Wingco's topic in Full Size Aviation
Looks like the PM has got involved and he has said it will be kept open after public outcry?. Power to the People. -
Just tried to log in and got the skulls. Thanks for the update on how to get in. Agree some people are so sad, and they think it's funny.
-
The MOD are going to close the chapel to save £50,000 ?. Much better to sack one of the lame brass hats than disregard the sacrefice made by the few in WW2. Sign the petition on epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/73191 Show somebody cares.

Can anybody tell me what the movement should be on all flying surfaces are please. I have checked the paln and can't see them any where. Cheers Chaps Happy New Year -
Does anybody remember the MoJo club in Sheffield. The first club Peter Stringfellow opened in an old cimema . A right dump but Joe used to play there with the Grease Band. Magic times, never told my parents where I'd been. So sad he is no more.

When I lean out the high speed needle my Irvine 46 the revs do not speed up, but it does not sound as though it is at WOT. Does that mean that the low speed needle is set too rich?. It's a second hand engine and I was assured by the seller that it performed perfectly. The low speed needle is level with the lip of the carb body and the high speed is open 3 turns to get it to run. The transision from tick over to WOT is fine.

Six Different Quick Build Fun Planes
Wilco Wingco replied to Tom Wright 2's topic in Own Design Project Blogs
Thanks Tom. Just a thought. Must build an electric one first then maybe "modify" it later. Great idea and so cheap. Keep up the good work. Where can I find more info on Toms Twin?. Cheers Chaps. -
Six Different Quick Build Fun Planes

Has anyone built one of these with a little COX 049 installed?. Or would that be too much oooommmppphh ?. R/C of course. -
The saga contnues. I have still not got my money back and e-bay seem to be as obstructive as the seller. They have been informed they are acting as an agent for a seller of FAKE goods but have neither returned my money or taken down the seller. I have had some good buts off e-bay but I will be using extream caution in future. Be warned their Money back giarantee is not without it's hoops to jump through.
-
I reported them to E-Bay last night and the sellers are still up there. I contacted Paypal and have been told that I can't get my money back untill I receive the items and they are fake?. Then I can raise a dispute and they will get the money back???. My advice guys is don't go there for the sake of saving a few quid, support your local model shop.

More checking. Don't be fooled by "UK stock" etc as I was, thinking they must be the real deal. On further checking they were listed as location "Devon UK", but a delivery time of 14 days using Air Mail???. Then the payment was to YUAN SHU HUA 111 North Bridge Road #13-06 default, Peninsula Plaza 179098 SG Don't know of any place in Devon with that address?. So maybe there are no UK sellers just scam addresses in the UK. A further thought. If we had an accident with a model using these servos would the BMFA insurance pay out knowing they were fakes or would we, the pilot, face a massive personal injury case??. Just asking.
-
Still out there chaps. I just ordered a couple of these FAKES, didn't know they were. Looked them up on here and low and behold there they are. White output gear, open ended mountings. So I cancelled my payment and sent an e-mail to Fle Bay telling them they are selling fakes, will it do any good???. Thanks guys, from now on it's a real UK seller, local model shop, for me.

While we are swapping stories how about this. Last year my working Springer bitch jumped out of the back of the estate as she had done a thousand times before. Only this time she landed a bit off centre and crushed a disk in her neck. She wound up in a heap only able to move her eyes and nothing else. To cut a long story short. £5K for the operation to clean out her spinal column plus £2K in physio. Now she is back to her old self but gets lifted out of the car. Then when she had been signed off. My male working springer tore a muscle in this shoulder, not designed for 180 degree turns. So another £1500 later and he is back to normal. As you can't insure working dogs the new car will have to wait another year.

Thanks for the comment David. That's just what I was going to do, like you said nothing seems to be too critical on this model.

Thanks PatMc for the quick responce. I can now do the initial set up. Will have to play the ailerons by ear unless someon else knows what they should be.

Just got an airframe off e-bay for a give away price but now I need to know what the throws are for this 4 channel model. Also the cofg and tank position. Cheers. Mike.

Just got a bargin off e-bay. Ben Buckle Super 60, spares or repair, for £5.50 with wing servos. The main wing needs re-covering with Solartex, have whats's needed in my box, no damage to superstructure etc so should be O.K. by the week end. I intend installing an well used OS MAX 30 or OS 40 FS and Futaba servos all to hand. BUT I can't find the throws for the control serfaces or c/g any where can anybody help ?. It's the 4 channel version. Also it has had an OS ??? installed but no tank and the nose is fully enclosed with holes for fuel lines through the two bulk heads?. Looks like the tank was in the main body of the fusilage, does that sound feasable?.

I have an Irvine 46 installed in a WOT 4 which starts first time and runs no problem when level. When I raise the nose of the plane it dies. I have tried cleaning the carburettor, opening the needle valve to make it richer, all to no avail. It just won’t run. I have tested for air leaks using a length of fuel tube and soapy water. There is a very slight leak out of the needle valve threads. VERY slight. I have put high melting point grease on the threads to “seal” this leak but the engine still won’t run when the nose is raised. I replaced it with an Irvine 53 and it runs fine so the plumbing is all O.K. I have run out of ideas. Help.

Latest Fliton Inspire 60
Wilco Wingco replied to Andy Harris's topic in Sport, Aerobatic and 3D kits
The recomended engine for this is a fourstroke 63 would an ASP 61 fourstroke have enough power to fly this plane. -
As a pensioner new to the sport I was given a 3810 which I put a Frsky module in. They are rock solid and never had any problems. Plus I don't have to reprogram my models on a "new" transmitter. I have a question about the location of the back up battery in the 3810. I would like to test the voltage and maybe replace the battery before it goes fut but I don't know where the solder blobs are in the PCB, in situ, to poke the meter. Anybody help, a photo would be great. Maybe wouldn't have to remove the PCB just attach a battery holder and solder the leads to the PCB without haveing to remove it?????
-
I have used FrSky for a few years now and never had any problems with either receivers or the JR modules. It may seem like stating the obvious but is the power supply O.K.? Does it work with other receivers i.e. one of your other FrSky jobbies?.

Back in the spring I tried to stop a ST 51 going full chat with my left hand, not a good idea. A flying buddy drove me to the hospital and after four hours at the local A&E I was stitched and super glued back together. It would have been longer but the nurse noticed I was dripping blood after it leaked through all the rags I had round it. Major lacerations of thumb and index finger plus minor cuts to other fingers and palm. I like to do things properly. It only takes a moments lack of concentration. MORAL NEVER NEVER FLY ALONE.
