About Me
I Have been playing with model aeroplanes since about the age of 5. . Loads of "pocket money" free-flight models came and went..... some went too well, never to be seen again...lol.
I started flying control line at the age of 8 but never got the hang of going round and round, and usually fell down, totally dizzy after about three circuits. . . I never liked roundabouts either when I was a kid.... More free-flight models came and went.
Salvation came when I began flying R/C in 1963 at the age of 9 (I washed a lot of cars to fund it...). . It was single channel (rudder only) in those days, but I quickly became overwhelmed with the desire for more control so "rose through the ranks" to multi channel reeds radios and finally on to digital proportional radios.
I designed my first R/C model at the age of 11 (precocious brat 🤣 .?) and it won a few club competitions. 😃 . .
I began display flying at the age of 12.
Am now an Area Chief Examiner, an Area Chief Instructor and am heavily involved with the BMFA Achievement Scheme . . Plus, I invest a lot of time introducing the sport/hobby to youngsters.
It is a fabulous pastime. . . . It is so much more than a mere hobby -- it is a passion and a way of life.
