Get a new one. . . It really isn't worth messing about with the old one. Even if the battery can eventually take a charge, all faith in it will be gone. -
I can only sleep on piles of old magazines. . . I’ve got some serious back issues.

From a practical viewpoint (with models) they slow down the roll rate a bit, but increase the rudder response. Arguably, they are best employed on 3D aerobatic models. Some look cool, some look ugly.
