  1. Blimey guys, I have neither the skill nor the time (sadly) to go that way a I start a new job in Spain in 4 weeks time. I have 2 more weeks in uniform then a fortnight later I'm off and modelling will be on hold. Thanks for thinking I have the skills though... Edited By Shaun Chant on 21/08/2010 22:28:02
  2. Thanks mate, I've banged ads into the classifieds here and on RCMF.
  3. Well I had revisited my Sea Fury today and decided that if I could get replacement outer wing panels and a cowl I might have a go at repairing it.   But it is not to be. A set of wing panels is................................ £120!   I didn't ask about the cowl.     So unless I can source a used airframe, then the IAF Sea Fury project is over.   Keep us posted on yours.
  4. Looks good Stephen. I didn't realise it had been repainted? Got any complete model pics?
  5. Not sure that was the sentiment Chris had in mind....   I'd like to watch you refurb the Sea Fury, but this is a leccy thread is all, and there are other non leccy Sea Fury threads.
  6. Hi Stephen, I always stand in the pilots box at the side of the runway about mid point. There was no issue of me misjudging the speed because of where I stood, it was mainly due to the lack of noise and a poor perception of the take off speed and generally me being a bit of a dumb a$s.
  7. Hi Stefan, I am interested in this as well as I will be moving to Seville in January 11.
  8. Yes mate is was my second one. I crashed the first one after it went dead stick and I stalled it turning finals. I bought this one earlier this year to build in time for the Greenacres fly in. And once again I stalled it, but this time I just misjudged the speed on take off and climbed too steeply before it had enough airspeed.   The model is great though it is just down to pilot error.   My pilot figure is from Petes pilots, he has an eBay shop and they are perfect for this model.
  9. Good luck. I can sell you a full leccy setup if you like....
  10. Blimey, that Griggs bloke has another model! Where on earth does he put them all....?   No worries Phil, enjoy the Walker
  11. Use a knife to pair it down until the glue remains then sand it off.
  12. Thanks Phil, don't worry as I don't think I'd be able to collect it anyway.
  13. Agreed. Time in the air with an instructor is a better investment.
  14. Its a 200 mile round trip..... but I am thinking about it. Could you email me any pics please?   Anyone passing Phils place heading north?
  15. Yep, but have a look on the BMFA Classifieds as it and Reflex iVol come up all the time.   One is a sim and the other is just a game.Edited By Shaun Chant on 16/08/2010 17:54:42
  16. I suppose it's life and part of the hobby. First biggy in over 2 years though, can't complain I suppose.
  17. Blimey, you really are quite far from me. Oh well, unless you're going to the Nats, or if someone else could collect it?
  18. Me too. Got the motor off last night. It turns freely by hand and appears ok. The mount and prop adaptor are wrecked though, but they seem to have absorbed the worst of the damage.
  19. Phil, where in Sussex are you? Do you travel towards Oxford at all? Are you going to the Nats?Edited By Shaun Chant on 16/08/2010 12:23:24
  20. Ouch sounds painful. The Sea Fury rolled and hit wing tip first then crushed itself in...
  21. It had an APC 18x10 prop which was checked against the Wattmeter, pulling plenty of power. It was at full throttle on takeoff. I think I misjudged the takeoff speed and rotated too soon, when I should have allowed more speed to build.   It's odd because a few people agreed it was hard to judge without the noise of an i/c engine.   Oh well, as some wag said it's all part of the fun....
  22. I don't really want to hijack Phil's thread, but it was my fault, pulled it off tthe deck too soon and tip stalled it in. There's more info in the Electric Sea Fury thread.
  23. Third time lucky perhaps?   I'll think on it for a bit. I was planning on thinning out my collection somewhat, although this isn't what I had in mind.
