  1. I'm not sure that the Bin Laden family will thank you for reminding them of their wayward relative. They are not all terrorists. The Phenom, and it's predecessor a CitationJet 525, was a regular visitor to these shores. Edited By Gavin Livsey on 01/08/2015 09:39:39 Edited By Gavin Livsey on 01/08/2015 09:49:28
  2. Replacing my written off Global Sbach with a Hobbyking Edge which was in the recent sale at a price too good to miss. I could use my DLE 30 but would like to try an electric set up. I've trawled through the various forums but most suggest motors and esc's not available this side of the pond. Anyone done a conversion using reasonably sensible priced parts? I' d like to limit the lipos to 8S (2x4S) but haven't ruled out 10S. Estimated weight is about 12lbs.
  3. Posted by Delta Whiskey on 17/02/2015 20:34:51: So get the G1 then ! Are you referring to the conversion plate only for the G1 on the cool wind web site? Absolutely! I started with a G2 and totalled it on the first flight. G1 flew so much better. A mate also bought a G2 and quickly removed the auto start bits. Flies so much better without. Yes, the Coolwind plate coupled with blades from AJ makes it a much more flyable beast. Now graduated to an Ajay which is even better, Why discontinued?
  4. Ditch the auto start, saves weight and drag on the blades. Mine hand launches in the slightest breeze without a problem. Just tilt it back against the breeze, let the speed build and away she goes. Lack of power has never been an issue, and yes the nature of the beast means down elevator on occasions. Been through no end of blades, usually down to tipping over on landing so have just upgraded to the Coolwind flex plate and AJ blades. Flies like a dream now.
  5. Haven't managed to maiden mine yet due to the weather. According to the AJ website the kit is discontinued? Seems odd after only six months or so.
  6. Nearly done now. The instructions don't mention anything about removing the triangular piece of the trailing edge of the blades at the root. Is this necessary as I see others have done it?
  7. Thanks to John at AJ. Got home tonight to find a PDF copy of the instructions in my in box. Edited By Gavin Livsey on 20/10/2014 18:40:17
  8. Made a start on mine today. Good job I looked inside the box, a bit sneaky taping some items to the box sides Quality is very good, those blades are so much better than I could do myself. Two small gripes, I don't have a PC so instructions on a disk are no good, unless someone could send me a PDF?, and no Velcro which is supposed to be supplied. No worries, I have loads. What motor have others used?
  9. Posted by Paul Marsh on 09/10/2014 21:56:11: Noticed that there is no working rudder. Really needs rudder, so would need fettling to get them going, especially with the twin tail. Why does it say a 6ch rx is needed when: Aileron 1 (Unless you don't use the Y lead and mix ail/aux1 ch6 Thottle 2 Elevator 3 Bomb bay 6 Retracts 5 Rudder would be 4th channel Bomb Bay doors no longer servo operated on v2.
  10. Posted by Terry Whiting 1 on 10/03/2014 19:55:43: Editor will / can someone PLEASE put us out of our misery with this plan as I and many more guys have waited anxiously these past 10 months...... Any news? Have just cut my teeth on an Auto G and itching to move on to a trike.
  11. Posted by Peter Miller on 09/09/2014 09:54:25: I think that has nailed it. It did not show up on the Flight Radar but maybe I am doing something wrong. I alsi had a look on G-INFO but may nat have fed in the right name if the Jet Prop conversions have a different number. Good to know I've still got it! Flight Radar and similar trackers won't pick up everything. Mostly only commercial airliners, and strangely gliders, will appear. The private community, especially bizjets and bizprops, seem to protect their anonimity. Although the picture isn't great, if it was UK or european registered, the reg would be visible under the wing. Suspect it was US registered but UK /European based. US registered aircraft almost without exception never carry the reg underneath. Edited By Gavin Livsey on 09/09/2014 12:17:28
  12. Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 06/09/2014 22:28:07: Have you tried plugging the autostart ESC into the throttle channel to see if it works there, if it does it means that it's not arming when it's plugged into the other channel (does it need reversing?), if it doesn't work in the throttle channel, and the main ESC does, there then there is a compatibility issue with the autostart ESC and receiver. Frank. That's about the only thing I haven't tried. I'm taking it to the patch today and will try it.
  13. Yes, I know. Everything is plugged in where it should be.
  14. Hoping someone else has had the same problem. I can't get the auto start system to work. I'm running an FrSky 6ch rx on a Futaba T7, my usual set up. When everything is connected up as it should be the auto start won't work. The auto start esc is plugged into Ch5. If I remove the plug from the rx and connect the lead to a servo tester the auto start works. If I connect a spare servo to Ch5 and flick the nominated switch on the tx it works. I have upped the end point on both sides of Ch5 in case the esc isn't getting a clear enough signal and still it doesn't work. So something is going wrong between the rx and the esc. Any ideas?

Pretty certain all Starships were bought back by the manufacturer after they decided to stop supporting spares and they were all scrapped. Might have been a P 180?
  16. Posted by kc on 14/06/2014 10:32:14: Thanks Gavin====we will land our models and watch them fly by! Schedule seems to be 12.00 not 1pm.......does the RAF keep to GMT? Yes, as it says on the first page of the notice all times are UTC, or Zulu, or GMT, whatever you want to call it!

  18. Posted by Wiltshire Flyer on 04/06/2014 03:21:51: There was one called "miss demeanour" would fly at the Bournemouth air festival, could it be the same one? Or am I hugely mistaken? Miss demeanour is a Hunter and certainly not in a Navy scheme!
  19. Tony, also watching. What plan is it? Looks like one from Parkjets.com. I'm a recent convert to the light side and have found my first parkjet to be as fun as my big toys costing hundreds times more.
  20. FB3, the track is the direction of travel, or rather the compass bearing.
