  1. I thought I would be clever and start using Mozilla Firefox. So, I have had to look up all my old user names and passwords and enter them, thought I had it right, the icons on this panel have arrived again. The scrolling seems to be slower but smoother. But, when I click on the link stuff on Photobucket on the right, nothing happens at all. I have tried to update the Photobucket options, now fed up with it.
  2. Peter, I am not surprised. I find that home computers (and the internet) are designed by academics and scientists to be used by the people who have grown up with them. Trying to use common sense just does not work. Ergonomics from the 1950's. The main problem is the language used. Often completely misleading and assuming expertise on the part of the user. Assumptions that the user knows ALL of the abbreviations, acronyms, and procedures.
  3. I think that the title 'the worst has happened for rc' could be toned down or changed. This was a very, very tragic and unfortunate incident, but it didn't happen at a public show or near buildings and only the operator was directly involved. Without judging before all the facts are known, the manoeuvres seen in the video obviously put a lot of stress on all of the airframe and many movements are close to the operator......... And the device is often coming towards him at head height before suddenly changing direction. Take all those things together and it looks like it was a high risk operation.
  4. I was told, many years ago, to check on a flyer's mental state, nervousness, lack of experience or confidence, 'watch the feet'. A good flyer will have his/her feet planted. When they turn to follow the model, one smooth turn, no fiddling about, stamping, pacing sideways. No twitchy movements. Try watching a good flyer, they don't lose balance, stand on tiptoe, bend the knees on final approach, or show any of the above bad habits. CPB

  6. Parcel arrived at 1430 today. Correct address, all in order. Driver didn't know that it had been 'delivered' last Friday! She couldn't take a signature for it as her machine wasn't working...So much for tracked delivery.
  7. I have always thought that oil in a model four stroke of the sort we normally use just found its way along the crankshaft and up the push rod tubes by pressure. I did buy a new Thunder Tiger 54 four stroke and after a few seconds light running it started squeaking. I found that the camshaft area was completely dry and there were scuff marks on the cams. Later on I bought a new TT 91 Fs and took the camshaft side cover off, as a precaution to check before I ran it. That cavity too was completely dry. Which gave me no confidence at all in the total assembly process of this brand.
  8. Sorry, since the change to the new website I have lost most of the Icons above 'this panel'. Anything new causes me great confusion. I have tried to get rid of the duplicate posts................................   retires to horizontal position in dark room zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Edited By Chris P. Bacon on 31/08/2013 10:39:31

  10. re The above, I have opened a case with ebay, item not delivered. I have just had an email from the seller telling me that the item was delivered at 11.57 today. Oh no it wasn't. I was at home looking out for that delivery and another, a book from 'Amazin' I didn't go out until 2 pm. I know that the Post Office is expensive now, but I have used them for ebay items coming in and out for 9 years and over 400 items and cannot remember any problems other than perhaps a delivery or two a few days delayed, but of the four or five courier delivery service items I have had two annoying problems, for what exact reason I do not really know. For seven of those years I lived in a fairly remote address. 1744 hrs. Edit, contacted Delivery service, they have a signature for it so who knows where it is, it could be anywhere! 11. I am waiting for a small ebay purchase of a secondhand item made from a London (70 miles away) seller. As soon as I saw he was using a courier service my heart sank, I just knew there would be a problem. The package is tracked, this is what I have found out so far. It was bought and paid for by me on the 21st August, received at the shop where it was to be collected on the 22nd. (Thursday) Collected on the 27th! I know that there is a Bank Holiday in between, but that is ridiculous. It was sent to my local office (10 miles away) on Wednesday. It is now Friday afternoon. Now fearing the worst. I am told by the website that I have to wait 5 days before contacting them. (Collect+). !Collect plus what!? - an eight day wait!   Edited By Chris P. Bacon on 30/08/2013 13:28:55

Well done, a satisfactory conclusion then.

Interested to know if there was any news on this fiasco, Colin?
  14. If I had that sort of money, I would buy....**LINK** It will be more satisfying to build and would keep its value, built or unbuilt. (No link facility available)
  15. If only, if only they would post it, it could be mine...............................................: )
  16. That reminds me. A few years ago two friends loaded their car up and set off to Spa to watch the Grand Prix. When they arrived the place was deserted. They had gone a week too early!
  17. Re Gibberish. If you look at the Picasso seats that the seller is offering as other items they are properly described.
  18. My son is a teacher. He assures me that the education system is better in every way than it was in the 40's and 50's. At least I can spell, punctuate and use grammar. Innit....................................!
  19. This could go in the jokes section, but as there are references to confectionery recently on this forum, the funniest joke at the Edinburgh fringe this year was judged to be one about about a chocolate bar. I won't repeat it, because although it is clean, it is well known, and not very good, but I remember one of my stepchildren telling it to me when they were teenagers, they are all in their late thirties and forties now. Last years was just as bad. Apart from that. There have been some genuinely good jokes on here, (not mine ) perhaps we could resurrect say ten of the best from the distant past and vote on them. (I guess that Ken NE.1 will have three or four on the list.) Edited By Chris P. Bacon on 20/08/2013 09:14:56

  21. That's strange, I was just going to write 'Remember Spangles!' Mars the firm, was founded by Frank C. Mars, so not such a silly name.
