  1. By far the best for model design is Dev Cad prices start from 35 euros. One of the best features is the ability to import raster file (jpegs & gifs) and draw over them. http://www.devcad.com/eng/default.htm Andy
  2. Guys Guys Its just this sort of posting that in the end closed down the BMFA forum. You have all had your say, so just leave it. I can see what will happen next, this thread will be moderated (I agree it should) then you will all turn your attention on the moderators, and off we go again. It's only 1 page in a great mag. Andy
  3. Not brilliant, but guess it's just me, we cant ban the stuff we don't like, if it was up to me I'd say chuck out all the heli stuff and put more slope in. Variety and all that. Andy
  4. Surely the title of this thread should be 'near hit' the fact that you saved it from hitting. Had you had the misfortune of hitting the deck, the hit would have been a near miss. Sorry, I've been away all weekend and just had the urge to post, but I have the same issue when ATC say near miss, I maintain they say it the wrong way round too. Andy
  5. Hi Lee Hope so, currently yes, you can have that go with my Skua. Andy
  6. I don't normally moan, but this is starting to get on my nerves, whenever I open a page, forum topics is the worse, I take a couple of seconds to find what I want, and just as I'm about to click the page jumps down a few lines, and I have to try again. The reason is the baner is loaded after the page and there is not enough room at the top. Come on guys get you web people to fix this, only small, but it's driven me to post. Andy
  7. Shaun There is already a thread on retracts on this forum. http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/utn/1099/last/1/V/1/SP/ It tells you all you need to know. Andy
  8. Hi Royden I have used 2 methods in the past for canopies. Plastic fizzy drink bottles, there are so many shapes and sizes once cut you can usually find one to go around most shapes. The other is blue foam (I say blue as it is denser and easier to shape than white) and shape it to fit, it will sand quite smooth. For finishing cover with low temp film or tissue / glass applied with epoxy of PVA (dont forget any solvent based glue will melt the foam. Andy
  9. MG995 have been discussed before on this forum, try a search and see the comments. Also check out best practice for retract servos, like using a separate battery pack. Andy
  10. I taught myself to fly with a Boddo Tyor Too. 3 channels. I've just built my Son one from a part built ebay bargin, complete kit with glue / film and accessories for £6. I was going to convert it to electric, but it's got and old PAW 19 in it now. Hope to let him have a got over the weekend. Andy
  11. Here is a link to the Suger Tiger website - manuals section. Should help. http://www.supertigre.com/manuals/index.html Personally I love Super Tigre engines, especially the Italian ones. I have 6 from a .25 up to a 3000. Just superb. Andy
  12. I vote for the Long Mynd, but Gt Orme would also work on a Sunday. M6 should be quite free then. Andy
  13. I've just got some 'Gorilla Glue' from ebay. I'll let you know how I get on with it. Andy
  14. Lee How are you going to join / fit the wings. Have you give this any thought yet. Nearly finished the CAD file for my built up fus, and I'm looking for ideas. Andy
  15. The first thing that came to mind was a Piper Cub, if you Google 'ARTF Piper Cus' you get loads. Andy
  16. Funny you should say that, Pete from Wowings said the same, so I'm going to leave well alone. I asked only because I modified my Alula this way, but it was an approved mod. Andy
  17. Tell you what Lee - you can have a go. Just asked the question as to weather or not it would be a good idea to hinge the inner trailing edge and operate with another servo as an elevator. I might just have to shelve my other projects and get this one built. Any comments? Andy
  18. Wey Hey Look a the date of my fisrt post - 24 oct, my Skua arrived today. Now what do I do, I wasn't expecting it until Dec. Hows that for service! Andy
  19. Hi Dont limit your charger choice to mains / 12V, you can get a good 20A powr supply to drive your charger when at home, and the choice / price difference between 12V only and dual voltage more than makes up for the addition £30 fir the PSU. I also use mine for powering my small power tools. Andy
  20. Your best bet is to look on the BMFA website for local clubs. Their website address is http://www.bmfa.org This link will take you to the clubs page, select London from the list and away you go. http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/clist.php Suggest you join the org whatever flying you do, for 2 reasons 1, Insurance 2, the mag which is quite good these days.  Andy
  21. Reed sent me my plan the other day, Waiting to clear some work by then my Stuk from wowwings should be here, then the Jart. I do like to plan how I'm going to do things rather than plough in, so the time will not be wasted. blue foam wings / built up fus is my way forward. I hope to start the build sometime before Christmas. Andy
  22. I've just had confirmation, that my Stuk will be ready for shipping in 3 - 4 weeks. Hope to get it ready for a Boxing day slope session. Lee - I spoke to Barry (Foamwings) ref a set of Jart wings and he says he's doing some for someone else, is that you. Andy
  23. Lee Long Mynd would be most suitable, but it is permit controlled. Will do my best to attend next one - seems I missed a good day. Andy
  24. Can we have the next one over a weekend? A
  25. Have a great day all, I would be there too but for work and the thought of the M6 back to Brimingham. Andy
