  1. Posted by Andrew Cousins on 03/08/2016 11:37:03: Guys many thanks for the information My TX is a futaba T8J. 2.4GHz Basically I am trying to squeeze the maximum amount of flying time in using one TX with two planes. My sons trainer and my improver. Once my son has decided he wants to stay in the hobby I will buy him a TX but until then we will use my TX. So I would be better getting a 4.8V eneloop 2500mah for the TX. Got a 2200mah Ni-MH at the moment. The charger that I have is the Futaba dual output wall mount charger that will do 4.8v or 6 v batteries it also states that it is a peak detect. Is this charger any good? Yes Andy it's all good , as suggested above and for your own piece of mind a spare pack would be an option? But as for charging etc at this stage keep it simple.

So, what you're saying is you load them into the album and sometimes (or always?) they are upside down and/or back to front? Can the phone store images in different formats? Is it storing them in plain vanilla jpeg? What happens if you put the image on your computer first - then transfer it to you album? BEB not that I can see. oddly, if I email them to my work pc, they are received turned through 90 degrees! Is it a landscape/ portrait switch that needs a click Rich ?
  3. iPhone !!! Fantastic things but often cause these types of odd issues. I managed to connect & print to a new wireless printer yesterday first time with no issues so I see that as a rare win lol.
  4. Andy , I see no reason for you to need to change from your standard trickle charge that came with the set originally. Others may differ in opinion but for your needs I would stay as you are , it's all I use for the 14 planes & 2 transmitters I have in use.
  5. Posted by trebor on 31/07/2016 10:10:42: It was a bargain, I could not resist it for £110 with a 150 Laser **LINK**. Mind you I ended up stripping it down due to things I didn't like the look of. I saw that one , where are you hiding them all mate ?
  6. Posted by trebor on 30/07/2016 22:44:50: Now what do I do ? Leave it as it is or change it Personally Bob I would strip it out & revert back to one Batt and switch, Simplicity is your friend in my experience and it will save on weight too. What Seagull edge is it ?

    Electric vs IC

Posted by MattyB on 25/07/2016 17:44:57: Posted by Justin K. on 25/07/2016 16:19:55: Another consideration is your time , Charging LiPo 's is a laborious task but one that's necessary after a day flying. I personally prefer to wipe a model down , put it away and get on with my day. I'm unsure of the comments on how hard a task it is cleaning down an airframe? Some people must of run engines incredibly rich for them to get that oily. As a seasoned electric flier I can confidently state that success is only assured if you charge the batteries before you fly...! TBH since I got my meaty setup (1kW+ dual output) charging is no longer a laborious task - I can charge any packs I need for an afternoon's flying in under an hour with two parallel boards attached. Discharging unused packs after a days flying though I agree is annoying, especially given most chargers have a very low wattage rating on discharge. If you have large packs they can take hours and probably put a fair bit of wear on your charger, but the relatively high cost of these packs means it's even more important to ensure they are stored at the recommended 3.85V/cell to avoid a loss of capacity and increased IR. Having done some reading on RCGroups though I have found a solution, and am about to create a 450W discharging setup based on some highly affordable commercial discharger units. I will probably post a mini build blog when I get round to doing this in the next few weeks. Edited By MattyB on 25/07/2016 17:54:03 So you leave your cells in a discharged state after flying and the charge them before your next outing ? Interesting especially in regard to our unpredictable weather.

    Electric vs IC

Posted by MattyB on 25/07/2016 14:25: The two stroke weed whacker petrols will never hold any attraction for me though - they sound hideous and have the capacity to lose you your site very easily. Here here ! Nasty sounding things , give me a 4 stroke glow engine any day . Another consideration is your time , Charging LiPo 's is a laborious task but one that's necessary after a day flying. I personally prefer to wipe a model down , put it away and get on with my day. I'm unsure of the comments on how hard a task it is cleaning down an airframe? Some people must of run engines incredibly rich for them to get that oily. My Saito powered planes get the messiest due to the crank case vent pipe, but a spray & a wipe is all in needs.

Posted by trebor on 23/07/2016 11:56:56: I gave Neville at Andover a ring and he's got one, that will give me an excuse to see what he's got downstairs and a chinwag. I'd go today but the other half has dragged me out into the garden. The A34 / M3 was not a place you would have wanted to be today mate I can assure you.

No I've not come across a magnetic one , but a light coat of oil & it could stick to something. I've had them fall out before but have seen them drop luckily.  Edited By Justin K. on 22/07/2016 21:25:16

  14. You got that Piper Pawnee going ok now Bob ? Keep off the grass
  15. Denis , you need to get over yourself a bit & stop commenting on the advice given by others. Martin has come back & thanked people for the info and I'm sure he will be back again when he needs more.
  16. Is it new ? If no how much work has it done ?
  17. A similar painful tale from me I'm afraid. I purchased an expensive Hangsr 9 ARTF kit from my semi local shop , the guy had ordered it in for me specially , we had a look in the box box when I picked it up and both noticed a fault. It wasn't terminal so hearing of the legendary HH customer service I took it home & said I would get a replacement part. At first all was well and they emailed back admitting the fault having seem my pictures and promised to send a replacement, that's when it got annoying as time when the on and on and further emails were ignored. Eventually I tried to contact them through a different email address and got into contact with a very helpful woman , she endeavoured to solve the issue but didn't seem to get anywhere either & eventually gave up ? So I emailed every Monday for around a month asking for an update , eventually I got the part posted from Germany. No covering note but I got my replacement, I would have understood if the part was unavailable but it was beeing sold by 2 HH dealers in the uk on the internet So sadly yes I would agree the once good customer service seems to have gone , shame really.

    August 2016 issue

O yes Bob , almost retracing your recent steps
  19. I've just been down to the local newsagent & picked up the latest issue. I've not read one in a while but we're off on our holiday soon and I always take one or two along. It looks great although I have only allowed myself the briefest of thumb through's, really looking forward to this one.
  20. Posted by Denis Watkins on 09/07/2016 09:24:07: ALL you guys are proficient and experienced, and mechanically sympathetic, you are good at setting up models. But some readers are not as experienced, and overtighten, and are not adept with bungs yet, Just spare a thought for those not as blessed as you folk please. I'm not sure of the point your trying to make ? Alan has had problems with a tank supplied with an ARTF kit , We have confirmed its a fault common to this kit , we have also suggested replacement options , I'm sure Alan will be able to measure his original faulty tank & replace it with a suitable sized alternative from one of the brands mentioned above.
  21. Posted by Chris Lee123 on 09/07/2016 08:00:48: Posted by ChrisB on 08/07/2016 20:14:48: If you want a fast machine don't choose an acrowot. Thick wing, uc and wide cowl. I've got a Top flite giant p47 with a zen 62. I've flown with several other TF giant P51s and they all leave me standing. The p51 has a thinner wing and streamline cowl, the p47 hasn't...hence its slower. Purely down to drag and design. Edited By ChrisB on 08/07/2016 20:21:30 As I said in my original post I just want to make the plane I have quicker with the parts I have. Well unfortunately as suggested a few times above you not really going to be able to.......
  22. Unfortunately yes Steve I too have had a bung come out but on the Wot 4 ARTF , the same junk I would imagine so don't even think of a replacement from Ripmax even if they do them. Du Bro or Sullivan for me too Percy . Edited By Justin K. on 09/07/2016 08:16:50 Edited By Justin K. on 09/07/2016 08:17:04

    Flop Gear

http://Chris Evans to step down as Top Gear presenter http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36707266   So Chris's Evans has thrown in the towel , what an absolute waste of the licence payers money ! Another nail in the hull of the BBC's gravey boat hopefully. Edited By Justin K. on 04/07/2016 18:53:12 Edited By Justin K. on 04/07/2016 18:53:32
