  1. KK Spectre by D Platt ,enlarged for r/c and electric? I built one age 12 had a Enya 19 IV that ended up powering my Kamco Kadet that I taught myself to fly with age 15,definitely think yours should be a free plan inthe mag !👍
  2. Except it doesn't apply here you are getting confused with lasers' lol !
  3. PDP Perry directional porting so the carb should be a Perry, the carb you have is a Kavan a common replacement back in the day,if you (or anyone else) is after a merco I have a number of fully rebuilt ones available ,will be watching this thread with interest!
  4. A number of test reports are on septreflight.com the carb is the dreaded plastic 'microflow' that was ok when new but would ware quickly and leak giving inconsistent running, nice original condition from the mid '70's
  5. Ha! Thought as much, this may well have been from when Merco supplied engines for the army's small airal target program (no silencer required!) If you don't fancy drilling then the p&r will fit and work fine,do you have one?
  6. Yes later MkIV probably just before or after Premier took over production, is the exhaust stack drilled &tapped?
  7. ED is quite correct about case size ,presumably you have the later 'heavy ' case version, when the Mk III came out Merco introduced the peak power silencer and later forest engineering the strapon torpedo type Mk I/II Type and Mk III on peak power R to L later forest engineering type, standard P&R and Irvine 46/53 silencer that will fit if you drill out holes
  8. It was just the first one I picked up for show, it should have this kavan on it that is currently on something else. Perry carbs are good but can clog up easily if care isn't taken to filter the fuel 3
  9. Covering now completed and engine in,just the plumbing and r/c install to do 9
  10. More like who's been frying today, phew ! 29c and no wind to speak of. ye olde barnstormer, good steady flyer and great for touch and go's 8 Quest hustler despite being a pain to build is a tremendous flyer and the HP 40 pulls it around in fine fashion
  11. Well l've now flown the D7 about 6 times, overall it flies just as well as my old one,had some minor engine issues mostly with the silencer/overheating but it has been rather hot on the days its flown (29c today) opened up the front a bit more just as a precaution left the top of the cowl off Once I'm happy with the engine cooling will probably sell it on ,running out of room for my next project!
  12. The engine plate sits on wood blocks yes? Cut top of f1 flush with blocks, move engine and adjust tank bay to suit, there should be room still for a 4oz tank that will be plenty for a 30fs
  13. I must admit I am more into building than flying these days, the workshop is a lot closer than the flying field after all 😄😄 I have a couple of plans from Mr Knowles stable, the Andromeda and Stringalong awaiting their turn on the building board.Just a personal observation l would be inclined to move the engine back an inch or there abouts I think it will help with the balance and looks ,following with interest.
  14. That's funny, I've tried selling it several times but no interest so thought I may as well finish it and fly
  15. Absolute scorching day,no cloud or wind to speak of got the D7 maiden after an aborted first takeoff due to loss of power, thought the engine may be a bit hot(I know I was!) Popped the top of the cowl off and all Ok then didn't get to maiden the tiger yet due to carb issues
  16. Back on this at last ! Fuselage has been a bit fiddly but almost there 👍
  17. Almost there ,just a few to add like fake rigging and a quick dust of satin proofer and the inevitable wait for the weather to co-operate 😕
  18. You could start by leaving out those diagonals in the tailplane and rudder, not really necessary at all.
  19. So getting fedup with building models and not being able to fly them various resons ,thought I may as well mess around with a couple of mercos, the Mk III just needing a set of cylinder screws made, shouldn't take long.................... .........5 hours later 😕 just need to make 9 more short ones for three sets hope it doesn't take another 5 hours 😅 This Mk IV will be made up from leftover spares, I will be boring out the case to take a larger late model crankshaft
