  1. Hi Tom, Just want to let you know Chris Marx did come and see me about his gyro. We fixed up a couple of settings, moved landing gear and battery and of we went to the flying field. Had a very successfull maiden. Got a email from Chris yesterday saying that he had acouple of flights now and getting better. Regards, Martin
  2. I started to fly in the arf era, my slowest plane is a Giant U Can Do 3D. Flying this Retro is a new experiance for me. Martin
  3. Hi all, Received my Retro Junior Yesterday and maiden today. It took of perfect in a gusty wind. I did not get a good response from the ailerons but the rudder worked well. I am use to flying my planes in for landing and battled to land this one. I then just closed throttle dropped the nose and the Junior landed it self. This plane is a real slow flyer and is going to take a couple of flights to get use to. Can't wait for tomorro to take it up again Regards, Martin South Africa.
  4. Ok, first problem is Chris made the head from aluminum plate, so there is no flex . I will get his address and send him a flex head if he hasn't find something by tomorrow. Chris is about 100 kilos from where I stay, Martin.
  5. Spoken to Chris Marx today. Will meet with him on a weekend and I am sure his CraneFly will be airborn in ajiffy: Martin
  6. Hi Tom, Yes still watching here from the sideline. These guys are speeking my language. Nobody is posting on our local website either , so I am still on my own mission. I will keep an eye on the forums and see if they popup somewhere. Regards and keepup the good work. Martin
  7. Hallo, Ek hoor julle praat Afrikaans, but I will write in English. Been there , your run off seems to be to long for the blades to pick up speed. In no wind conditions I just walk to get my blades to spin up. Mabe your shims for negative pitch is not enough. Where are you from - maybe I can help. l am from Springs Gauteng and had many success flights with my Crane Fly. Martin
  8. Tom, You to must have a very good and happy new year and keep up the auto gyro spirit. Regards, Martin
  9. Sorry to hear about your loss Rich, I thought that only happens in South Africa. What is our world comming to? Regards, Martin.
  10. Hi Tom, Yes ,I had four kits cut which was given away for free to try and get more intrest in autogyros. The kits were supplied with HK heads and blades. I am stil waiting for feedback from these guys. l am the only one at this stage with a flying "Mozzie". The idea is to supply a complete gyro with motor, esc, blades and all the other bits at cost but with the Auto-G and the bad Dollar/Rand it becomes impossible to do such a project. Regards, Martin
  11. Hi Rich, Do you use a flex plate on two blades? Martin
  12. Hi Dave, are you still going to flip the rotating part of your HK head over ? Ican see on your last photo that it has not been done yet. I am not sure if you know that these heads are assembled wrong by Hobbyking. Regards, Martin
  13. Hi there, Setup is usually difficult to explain to beginners, but is real easy. 1) Get your tailboom level. 2) Transmitter sticks at midpoint (make sure motor is unplugged) 3) Looking from side of FF: Set adjustible spirit level on 6 deg and now put it on the head and adjust to suit spirit level. 4) Now set your spirit level to zero, push elevater stick forward, set travel on on servo until bubble is centre. 5) Now 15deg. Pull elevater back (I use an elastic band on the stick to have both hand free) and adjust TX to centre bubble again. 6) Now stand behind the gyro, set spiritlevel to 2deg. The rotorhead should now have a 2deg to the left tilt with ailron stick in the middle. 7) Now do a 15deg left and right tilt using the same methoud as above. 8) Set TX to exponential and set that to 15 or more.
  14. Some low passes Wind conditions was ideal. Cyril has become a very good gyro pilot since I changed the Crane Fly to mode one. Here he is letting a youngster fly the Crane Fly his first time. Damn, these youngsters just are natural pilots !!!!!!! Regards, Martin

  18. Hi Tom, I used 3mm ply, the spruse is 8 x 16, the motor is a sk3 3536 1400kv +-560watt and a 3000mAh Zippy battery that weight 8oz , esc 40amp and a 10x6 prop with spinner plus rudder with servo. I suppose all these extras starts adding up. She can fly slow and move like a pylon flyer. At high speed she can do a 90deg bank like a chopper. I will take a propper camera to the field next time I go there, the previous videos were taken on a cell phone. I will build another Crane Fly and stick to the plan with smaller motor and battery. Regards, Martin
  19. Hi Bill This is my AB setup with a 2 deg neg shim. Flying with a 2.5 deg back angle on the head. I had no problems with hand launch or rog. Wind was about 8 - 12 kmh. We are about 5000ft above sealevel and my Fly Crane weigt is 2lb 7oz. I am using a delta head. Maybe the more experience guys will know if the delta head is helping here with lift and spinning up on the AB blades.
