  1. Thanks chaps:as I said its just a nuisance having to pull the wing off between flights. As suggested maybe a cable outside the fus would work & I'm sure someone has a safe switching set-up somewhere along the way.
  2. I know I will be criticised again but would like to know now that I have subscribed can I look at particular articles on line in past publications? ie January this year on multiple engine hook up. Another question! Is there a safe way to introduce a switch into my on board electrics say between the esc & the Rx so that I don't have to remove wing each time & disconnect battery directly from esc?
  3. Guess I'm still learning about protocols with the forum Dave:there's just so much stuff to peruse when deciding which spot to land on. Appreciate your advice.
  4. I hear what your saying but trying to follow instructions on the Turnigy leaflet for me is a bit scary:its a little more confidence building getting another slant on details.
  5. Blimey!I have just set-up 60amp&80 amp esc's & when I hooked up the 60amp unit It played a simple tune but motor would not run:swapped 2 wires still no motor. Moved throttle to high position & waited for music to hit a few notes then moved throttle to idle & every thing seemed O K.How do I change this so that I can start with throttle already on low? This time there was no prop, but I I get the sequence wrong with a prop fitted;wow!
  6. Have broken through that "trees & forest" barrier & secured my subscriptiom thanks very much.
  7. Thanks a lot chapsroblem solved. The U tube x Tim Mackey (was it him?) was the clincher;the thing I'm curious about now is the failsafe thing?Am I at risk (at least the model) of crashing without that? Will check the forum of course.Educating those of us who are slow learners is all a matter of finding the "right recipe"
  8. Sounds good Graham, where I may be going wrong is your step one:....and select channel to bind?lease explain?I didn't know a channel on the Tx had to be "selected" for binding purposes? What are your thoughts on the non blinking L E D which is brand new. Has been sitting around for about 12 months & only just opened container.
  9. Have read a few items on this topic but they were during 2010 which was a little while ago so hope I haven't gone against the grain by starting anew one.Have a spectrum DX6i & AR5200 Rx plus AR6100 The former has L E D which lights up when batt. is plugged in but at no time does it flash?Because the Rx has batt./bind at the same location how can you have both hooked up at the same time.Profound statement you say; the second of my Rx's does not appear to have L E D & again no go with binding(using bind plug)Not sure about location for bind plug but hoping that you clever operators can help. Am particularly concerned about the "non flashing" L E D in AR5200.
  10. Am trying to subscribe to RCM&E from Tasmania:application went well until I got a message saying that all criteria were not entered regarding my mailing address. Yet all default boxes were full of accurate details? ing this via the forum as it may be faster than sending an email which at my address is almost non existant. Maybe BEB has some ideas?
  11. This posting is a few months old now but I'm rather awe-struck about the knowledge or otherwise all you folk have about electronics. My interest is restricted to whanting to know why does an esc have a BEC? Is that just because it doesn't use a seperate batt.for the Rx i.e.powered from the lipo hooked up to the esc.I have a contra rotating motor/s which I intend setting up in a model so need more info on this "two esc's" thing. If some-one thinks they can provide a plain english explanation to this situation then I'm "all eyes"
  12. Wow thanks for that mate:guess I just didn't follow instructions correctly. What time is it over there? Its 9:35a.m. here at present.
  13. This posting is getting a bit old now but when I recieved help in binding my Tx/Rx for the first time by a chap with background in electronics he placed the bind plug anywhere & it works. Would like to read more about different Tx's to different Rx's.
  14. Wow!so much to absorb! While on the subject of servos:I am using an older Hitec radio (FM) which ks fine but I use more current analogue & digital servos.I still have the origonal Aristo craft hitec HS-402Xa servos but don't use them;also have some older Futaba (IC) does that mean internal combustion?: FPS15M &FP-S21 If they work OK why dhould I not still use these servos. There must be a device to check reliability? I don't fly 3D just good slope soaring &sports.
  15. I typed esc set up in the box at the top with no result:the reason being that suddenly after "reading instructions" enclosed with my turnigy 80amp. esc I realise that things can go wrong if not set correctly. Have previuosly had help setting up. Will do some research on this one.
  16. Its a "Flight"model & has 80' span.Weight is 3.4K's Have just found a MKS DS1210 servo that I had purchased previously which has 10kg. torque @6v so think I will use that one. It was $34 AUS. about 4months ago. Where do you chaps get quality servos at realistic prices.Hobby King is about the cheapest for us down here but there is no after sales integrity unfortunately. I have some very old Futaba servos in very good cond. about which I've asked for opinions but don't think any-one has seen it yet. Actually I'm still struggling with the protocols using web sites like this & can't always see the forest because of the trees;Does "search" function actually sit as a heading as such?
  17. Had a look at some opinions on servos but lost the thread so to speak:am about to fit servos to my super Cub & have a choice of three servos for elevator: TurnigyTGY-930 digital HitecHS-325 HB analog or Bluebird BMS621. Would like opinions please?
  18. I still have my old Futaba A.M. radios & several servos that still work fine:batteries are updated when neccessary. My quiery is this;a couple of the servos have had very little use (FP-S15M &FP S21) some people will say "chuck em out" but they have been looked after & would like to know if there is a way to:1.test the strength(torque I guess) & or function/reliability?Would like to hear from any-one with info.My wife is nearly as old as me but I'm not ready to chuck her out! I do have some young F.M. & 2.4Ghz. radios.
  19. Is this Pheonix thing the "flight simulator"If so what exactly do you do if more than one person flies at once? Can you see several models on screen at the same time?I have had mine for about a year & cannot work out how to make flaps work? Can any-one advise?
  20. Which plane? I have an old Curare20 still in the box (1200mm.span) that needs a 19-25 motor so I figured that might be the go,but it may depend on the No. of esc's and or batteries?
  21. Eamonn, you are correct:its also on Utube. Isn't experimentation the thing that helped you blokes win the war?I have a multi meter;prefer analogue as apposed to digital.I'm a slow learner but always keen to have a go at something different.Someone mentioned glider towing (did they) which I've done with models & full size. Glo powered models & AM radio was sooo easy.
