  1. Most of us know model flyers who "go it alone" although they appear to be much in the minority. Even more in the minority, thankfully, is the expierience and comment by Rex Keene. In my expierience clubs are what the individual makes of them,,, join in and enjoy and much help and friendship accrues. The "Flyer" bit of paper is indeed a good idea as long a it relates from direct conversation I think. I have no idea has it worked when given out at the time of flying though as no-one came back Might have though as most enquiries were from out of the area Tourists.
  2. If it starts and runs reasonably well then use it. Keep your cash for your next model. I have had five MDS units, a .48 which was ok'ish, in my first model. I had another .40 in a Prangster, it was very good. I bought two '40 for a twin, dashed could I get them to rum well plus another I was given new, which was also utter rubbish.
  3. Has happened before although perhaps not to all members of the time. Also been happening to me over the last couple of days, I did suspect my system though.
  4. Well done Radge, Keep enjoying what you do and keep giving good advice at the park. As to us considering do 2kg belong in a park and us discussing such. Perhaps a limited benefit the discussion part, and the 2kg models in the park depends on the park and perhaps the time of day as to the safety of other users of it. The weight own its own does not really make then unsafe.
  5. Don't need Monikie then Eck I feel sorry for all the guys and gals getting the influx of filthy water, been there, not pleasant at all. We, in the Highlands, still have parts of main roads half washed away, for more than a year, although less land underwater than down south.
  6. Hi Scott, Sounds a great venture. A bit away from me at Fort William, though I have been known to visit various clubs. I cannot justify aking to be a member, but as said,,, visiting? I am at Balbedie four or five times a year plus Loch Leven, so possibly not too far from your venues
  7. Been getting LOTS of flying in as well as keeping clear of any wintry looking flying sites. Isn't Phoenix Sim wonderfull? Mind it is Thirty Years of Waterplane flying at Loch Insh, September 2013.
  8. Did not reply earlier due to Chef, waiter, and dish wash duty. did manage one other post. Just had a look at Santa's progress. Nice poke Chris.
  9. I found, so far, as not fully read yet, that there is a fairly good mix of content. As to terms used, and more especially spelling mistakes in supposedly ENGLISH English that the mag sort of reflects the errors which are becoming increasingly common in the "Press" . thier/there color/colour,,,,,,, So, the word puerile, which is out of fashion, is appropriate perhaps.
  10. The seasons Greetings to you all. I told my wife on Friday the 14th Dec' what she had got me for Xmas,,,, Works well it does, just not the same as real models flying,,, Pheonix Sim for the poor weather times.
  11. Certainly been a great past-time for me being middle aged.... 69 I hope you get as much from it as i have.
  12. Posted by Bob Cotsford on 08/12/2012 10:33:41: Posted by Chris P. Bacon on 08/12/2012 10:25:37: Better still, limit the giveaways to members with 1000+ posts! (Just kidding) what a good idea! WHAT A GOOD IDEA well worth shouting about
  13. There will be more additions to the list and map in 2013, based in Bonny Scotland. I shall need to go look at that map when I finish on the forum, this visit. I might find it more usefullas a visitor? Looking for a club by County does not help unless one knows the County boundaries AND what County an area of interest is in.
  14. "Highlands" appear to start not far North of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Poundland ect,, could I get what I need local I would do, but they don't do resin in quantity for fibreglass and the nearest possible supplier is more than sixty miles away. Even with the ripoff surcharge SOME carriers charge, the take it or leave it charge by the supplier in question is really bad. Hmmmm, I wonder could "we" in the Highlands charge similar delivery costs to the UK goverment for oil and gas? Backdated of course.
  15. I wanted some Resin and Hardener, so I looked at a well known supplier's site in the Northeast of England. Price of goods OK.so went to pay,,, After searching for goods and filling in the register thing, What Well, for 407 miles to an England address carraige costs a LOT less than 247 miles to a Scottish Mainland address. One Kilo of goods nearly £26 to me. So Bog Off to them. Cheaper to buy from Hong Kong.
  16. Wrong header-ed thread now The hills they are white. The car was the latest version of a freezer recently. Still, I was at the Aviemore site,,, Cairngorm MFC on Sunday past. What a beautiful day, the frost lifting before I arrived so only the first couple of flights needed the gloves on. Flew my Flair Passion, a biggish fun fly, with an Irvine .61, noisy but NICE. Then later on my little .06 Deisel PAW fitted "Novice". Pretty quiet I thought,, only me there, till three hours later. The main flyers apparently went to the Elgin model event at Elgin Town Hall.. Still, lots of free sky meant peacefull flying, but not a lot of socialising. 3pm and the dew was getting heavy, 4pm and packing up, both the model just landed and the one in the pits iced up. I did not even notice it was THAT cold. I could get used to this though,,,, please
  17. Had some nice "fixes" through at Dallachy MFC yesterday. Windsock horizontal, so all on my own, and had great fun flying my Flair Passion, a 3d model with an Irvine .61 up front. The main reason for being near Elgin,,,,,, Sadly, for my old pal, it looks like he will be in permanent care as will his long time partner. I am sad.
  18. You will find that the smaller diameter will have a firmer fit to both the standard fuel tank outlet tubes and to the inlet nipple on your engine.
  19. "Did" Elvington. Thats my lot of long distance for this year. Anyway, last time I went somebody put a picture of me on the thread of that time. Fine, but those other ungly guys for you,,, tomorrow.
  20. Your North West, specifically applies only to ENGLAND not the United Kingdom. There is in a straight line 340 miles of the UK mainland North of you I, f'rinstance. find you south of the offical centre of the UK Still hope it goes well for you even though I am in the NW of the UK.
  21. Well done guys, "A" for effort. Only, are you in the UK? If answer yes, then you sure ain't in the North West Hope you get a very good event with lots of nice weather.
  22. Posted by FunnyFlyer on 31/07/2012 13:55:05: @Barnesyboy Surely a capital letter at the start of each sentence and the odd full stop here and there is not too much to ask from people who have spent 11 years in compulsory education? It's not about being a pedant, it's about aiding understanding. Correct, and as for spelling, how would we easily understand a post which uses for example "wait" when "wieght" is meant? multiply that type of error as is all too "to" common. Now had I removed all punctuation from the post by BB and my own, then joined them together without any breaks or new line,. Not so easy to understand.
  23. Great fun isn't it. Always best it seems, to make a personal appearance or two at any prospective club.as the website E-mail might only get looked at now and then. Don't immediatly ask to fly, they will likely ask you what you have and can do. Then take it from there.
  24. Of course it is. A genuine pain in the butt I think.
  25. Been tardy I have, trying to think of a reply to the pen pusher or should that be typist? yeah should be! The problem I have is how do I reply without slagging the lad off? Seems I don't need to worry about that, he would think something wrong with me if I didn't. He claims. Ohh Ohh me keyboard carraige return button has taken a lazy spell and stopped working. Talking off worry, Martyn surprised me, he saw an advert in RCM&E for sale stuff in Fort William, HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE ME. Hoorah, it works again. Anyway, I was pleased to say I am still active. The really sad bit is that the very nice chap doing the selling is no longer with us RIP Clelland. He has some nice plans for a Model Flying enterprise, and has put a good bit of time into it. As it is a very new thing to his area it is an uphill slog, hopefully with the various advice he is likely to look for and get, he will be the Organiserr of a nice event. I will leave you wondering what on earth it is, as he has some way to go yet. I will also leave it to Martyn whether and when he wants to publish it. Elvington Martyn????
