Noooo!!! Ali Machinchy Is Leaving!
Keith replied to Matthew Leese's topic in All Things Model Flying
Like many others I met Ali at his trade stand during a weekend model show. Very amiable and polite man, and a brilliant pilot. Very best wishes to you and your family. Hope you all have fun and are successful in U.S -
Hitec Aurora 9 transmitter:- Faulty on/off switch???
Keith replied to NealeG's topic in General Radio Discussion
Hi, I have the same message "Saving model memory data" flash up every time I switch off, but thought this was normal. It only happens once though. I am sure that you are not supposed to switch the Tx on whilst it is charging...this may be causing problems. Keith -

I would love to take it off your hands, will replace Agilily I have broken Keith.

That's a new one on me Phil, why a flourescent one? The spinner isn't that big in relation to the aircraft, might be easier to use flourescent covering on the wing leading edges.
-
I would go with B.E.B's suggestion and just chuck the battery pack Alan, it's just not worth the risk of losing the whole plane.

The Mode Survey - what do you fly?
Keith replied to Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator's topic in General Radio Discussion
Hi, I fly mode 2 I learned to fly in the North East I still fly in the North East I was taught by an unofficial tutor (mate), who now flies jets Keith -
Our club also bans pilots from lone flying, although the reason for this (which I totally agree with), is that we fly from a farmers field which is also used by full size aircraft. You cannot possibly watch your model and look out for the full size at the same time.

How about : ELEKTOR ELEKTROFLY SUREFLY THERMO ELECTROSAUR -
Hi Guys, sorry for the late reply (been laid up in bed with the dreaded flu). Cheers Arte, will be checking those out tonight. Thanks for the info, Timbo, I have no idea at present what the AUW will be as I am working from an old plan (1996) and it has been many years since I built anything from scratch (shame on me!!). The plan shows 7x6 3-bladers on O.S 15's. Rob, the floats do retract onto the wingtips, and we are on the same wavelength - I was thinking of a single servo operating via bell cranks to get them moving.
-
Hi, I am about to construct a Catalina (73" wingspan) which is designed for 2 x 0.15cu. in engines, but wish to convert it to electric power. Also, I would ideally like to build it with retracting floats ( although no undercarriage). Could anyone please point me in the right direction with regards to :- a) suitable power trains... b) how to get the floats retracting. Many thanks. Keith

Weird story that peevie. When the jumbo came over I would have fallen out of bed & woken up ! -
Cheers Eric, but all the plugs are fully moulded type so maybe there is a duff wire somewhere. I don't want to start pulling the units apart just yet so I'll keep on trying & see if moving the wires does help. Birdy is spot on !
-
Cheers birdy, eric, but tried all the usual like new batteries; checking charging wire connection etc. Only thing I can now think of is that the plugs may be faulty.
