  1. My lad is 8 and learning to fly r/c planes but loves lego...had a technics "buggy" and loves it - great to build. I just got a 3D printer pen so hoping that will grab his attention too but more likely his 6yr old sister will want it!! If anyone has a lego At-At let me know, its on to of his xmas list
  2. Maybe get one for him too https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QNR_GEWZ63w
  3. Looking good Tony!! Nice to see the Brigand coming together .. here is "G" in case you haven't seen this photo .. one of many from my fathers collection: edit: now I just need the plans to do one about 1500mm span with a couple of electrics in it Edited By Mark Stringer on 14/09/2015 13:37:24
  4. Signed and passed onto my club members 2664 so far .. a long way to go yetEdited By Mark Stringer on 28/08/2015 11:18:15
  5. Ailerons!!!! What ever next? Mine flys nice and slow with rudder and elevator and a geared electric motor - would probably fly with a .25 or less up front - thermals with the motor off on nice days.. don't over power her
  6. Bob, that would be great one day - I have the plans all scanned so should be easy enough - I also thought of a Jabberwock Foam-e but the initial costs are huge - one day maybe
  7. Be careful what you wish for. ..a guy called Baz gave me Jabberwock III at Green acres back in 1979 .. I refurbished it and loved it for ages until the aileron stuck one day and it spiraled to its demise. Almost 20 years later I still loved it so much I bought Ratby Aeroplanes!! I still love them and have several ...so any loss of a Jabberwock is a sad day. ...do build another
  8. I have used the 60 and 120 original versions and both were "OK" if you know what I mean. .bit noisy when cold and not quite as much power as other 4 strokes. I still have the 120 somewhere .. number 11 if I remember correctly so probably becoming a collectors item now!
  9. I had a big tin of Logic cyano activator (200ml) from emodels ltd on ebay for a fiver and it has been great. I do find that fast drying on depron can create a brittle joint though.
  10. I fly everything mode 1 (f/w, quads and heli) and to my thinking the channels shouldn't change anywhere .. the difference is only which side the sticks are on the TX. So there shouldn't be any wiring changes to do but if going from one TX to another you will need to calibrate the FC to match the radio especially with the amount of throw to make sure the arm / disarm works #edit# all on a taranis plus by the way  Edited By Mark Stringer on 19/07/2015 08:44:43
  11. Some fiddly bits today made harder by finding a twist on the one wing panel .. that is the trouble when I wasn't able to pin it down during the build - but I think they would complain at work if I started pinning things to the desks I decided to do the middle leading and trailing edges in balsa as these take the wing mounting dowels and wing bolts .. but the rest of the trailing edge and leading edge is in 6mm depron, the leading edge being a double layer. I got the twist pretty much out so they should be OK - just need to keep them straight when I come to sheet them - that will hold their shape although they feel very string already. I also sheeted the top of the fuselage in 3mm depron - so much easier than using balsa! Part of the top I plan to cut out to make a battery hatch one I have decided where the CofG comes out which will determine the battery position. So that is it for today - a couple of pictures of the progress
  12. Another busy hour today - a bit messy at times but getting there - and looking a bit like a plane today! Added the formers to the one side - just cyano for now but main formers will have epoxy added and maybe even doubles in places Second side added, tail joined and tail skid then cut to suit and fixed Then onto the wings - added the first spar / rib set - again cyano for now and once all straight with LE / TE added some epoxy / doublers may be added in places before skinning. And the second spar and wing joiners Second wing made - remembered to make them left and right handed! Then joined them together Ran out of time at this point - just time to put it together to see how it was looking I will continue on the wing for now as the fuselage depends on having it finished - leading and trailing edges to add, getting it all square and will then sheet one side in 3mm depron ... to be continued .....
