  1. I now have the recipe for D1000 fuel from the Model Technics website.  It is:- 35% Ether 35% Kerosene 28% Castor oil 2% Isopropyl Nitrate Are these items easily bought? If so, where from? Would a High street chemists have any of them? Is Kerosene just heating oil? Sorry for all the questions, but im sure you can appreciate my predicament? I hope!  Barry
  2. Well, I now have a prop and fuel tube for this wee beauty. Im making a tin-plate tank for it as well. The biggest problem I have is the fact that I cant buy fuel! I cant get it sent by mail order, and the nearest shop to me (hundreds of miles away) doesnt have any in stock.  My next option is to get a chemist here to mix some up for me. What are the key ingredients of Diesel fuel, and their ratios? I want easy starting and reliability, not out and out power.  Still not heard a thing from PAW. I thought they would at least acknowledge my existance?! 2 E-mails so far un-answered.  Thanks in advance for any help guys,  Barry
  3. Hi Steve, thanks for the help/info. I will design/build an airframe myself for it, but I do want to get it running first. It is absolutely brand new, and the guy I got it from said he bought it for control line, weeks before he went to radio, and simply never used it. I do fly glow 40 size stuff for the noisy/smelly fun factor, and the noise aint a problem at all. The louder the better in fact! I will mail Steve Webb and see if he can supply me with fuel/tank/props. I hope PAW do get back to me. Ive tried twice to e-mail them now without reply. Maybe a good old phone call is in order!?  Cheers, Barry
  4. Hi guys, I have got an old PAW 100 here in its box that has never been run. I would like to fly it, but require an RC carb for it, and props/tank/fuel. I also has no silencer fitted. I have mailed PAW, but have not had any response from them as yet. Can one of you kind gents help a leccy flyer out please? I also need to know what weight/span plane this engine will fly? I could fly it without the throttle I suppose if I cant find an RC carb. Its just for some fun really. Thanks, Barry
  5. The foam I use is called "Floormate" and "Wallmate", and is made by Dow Corning. I get it from the local builders merchants. I can obtain it in a few sizes- 8foot x 2 foot/ 4x2 / 8x4. The blue foam is more dense than the pink, and also a little heavier.I use the 2" thick for smaller leccy models, and Ive used the 4" thick for 0.40 size glow fuselages. I make whole planes out of the stuff, and have developed a nice easy process over time. I can explain if anyone is interested. I have numerous build threads on another forum. Does anybody know where to get "fan fold foam" Its the same blue foam, but in thin sections. I know its all the rage in the USA for quick builds.
  6. The best plans are the Supermarine ones if you can get em!!!
  7. Tony, Id love to see a Sunderland emerging. Its on my build list, and im up for it in 400-600 size. The other Im planning is the good old Mk1 Avro Anson (hint hint). Another coastal command favourite like yer Welly. A Beaufighter would be nice too though. I could go on, and on, and on (shut up Barry) Thanks, Barry
  8. Cheers Tom. Im RCM&E daft, and Id rather post build threads here than on a yankee forum any day! I used to have to re-size pics to post them, but they changed the forum so they were automatically re-sized as you up-loaded. I will hang fire on choosing a new build until Jim can fix it for me. Thanks, Barry
  9. Is it possible to upload a pic to a post directly, without re-sizing it? Thats my favourite feature on the RCG forum. I post build threads with 4 or 5 new pics every day. I would like to begin build threads here in the future for my scale models. Thanks, Barry
  10. Yep, as Tony says, every model will progressively get better. Patience is the key, and LOTS of it!! I used to build great, but finish poor. Now ive found artists acrylic paint and have never looked back. Lessons learned are easily remembered for the next build. Good luck, Barry
  11. I have to fly regularly in winds over 20mph, or I dont get flying very much. I have flown a 400g foamy in 35mph, and that aint slope soaring either. Its harsh up here!
