  1. Hi Steve, what a fantastic build blog and plan. I am going to have a go at building this out of depron and coated in poly c, I love the tights method you used. how much dihedral should I put in the wings as I am going to built the wings as a one piece wing and incorporate it into the top part of the fuselage ( well that's what I am going to attempt lol) I will keep you updated on my progress I'm not a very fast builder though due to running my own business work gets in the way. kind regards Roy M

  10. Nice clean punch out holes! did you steal Roy's new hole puncher? I have tried to punch out holes but the depron kept tearing so I gave up, I think my copper tube wasn't sharp enough Good work keep it up. regards Roy M
  11. Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. good luck with your build, I will watch with great interest. I use mainly PVA it doesn't give off any fumes, has a really strong bond and gives you time to get everything into position and lined up. The only down side is you have to give it plenty of time to dry. But at least you can go through the next steps of the build, have a read up and get the next phase sorted, whilst having a brew you can even have a couple of bits on the go at the same time, work on the wings whilst the fuselage is drying. good luck Roy M
  12. I'm subscribed to your build Phil / Roy. This is going to be great, you can't go far wrong with Roy on your side. I wish you lots of luck and enjoyment and welcome to the world of depron. Once I've finished my Magician build I'll be back into depron for my 2nd attempt. Keep up the good work I look forward to your posts. regards Roy M
  13. Thanks Daz, I've just ordered the motor and ESC that you suggested. i will keep you all posted on my progress. Thanks once again.
  14. Hi Daz and Roy, I think you are bang on with your prognosis Roy, the model was 2 1/4lb (+ a little more weight added on the day) and I tested it with a watt meter with the 7" prop fitted, it seemed to have plenty of power around 380watts. The 9"x 6 prop seemed much bigger and a different style to the 7". I then didn't bother to put her back on the watt meter, which was a big mistake. I'm sure it was over propped and that's what burnt the motor out. The motor I used was from Giant shark but had nothing written on it and it seems kind of small for the prop which is fitted onto it. I'm fairly new to electric flight so it's a lesson learnt. i will buy a decent sized motor and ESC and she will be ready to take to the skies for real this time, My friend at the club said that for the time it was in the air it seemed to fly right, apart from the dodgy launch. ill take a look at the motor you suggest Daz and try again. Thank you for your help it's much appreciated. kind Regards Roy M
  15. Well Today the weather was a bit blustery but we decided to go for a maiden flight. I had to change the prop to a 9 x 6 and also the C G was out a bit so it was weighted a little at the front. a good friend at my club had his new toy armed with a camera on a gimble and he was kind enough to get some footage for me. i am a bit of a coward when it comes to a maiden flight, so I let our club expert have a go and trim it out for me ............I know that one day I will have to bring myself to do it on my own. anyway the maiden didn't go quiet to plan as the motor burnt out, it had a poor 2 handed launch which was recovered, she then pulled up and flew nice for a few seconds before the ESC burnt out. The motor stopped and she glided down safely. When we tried to power up smoke came belching out the motor which wouldn't spin, the ESC was burning hot. so it looks like. A new motor and ESC is needed before maiden number 2 ..........can anyone recommend a suitable cobo to run a 3 cell 2200 Mah, a link would be much appreciated. heres the link. http://youtu.be/sZkP0QmgBBo kind Regards Roy M
