  1. i can fly any mode, but draw the line at saying an examiner or instructor should be expected to be able to fly either mode, where the heck do you get that from??? some of the best flyers in this country--and i know a lot of them, are dedicated in one mode Edited By Alan Cantwell on 17/09/2012 19:50:01
  2. anyone who is tempted to buy fair sized diesel, may be interested to know the oldham club are selling one for a member who is no longer able to fly, its a 8cc TBR PAW, its on ebay, with 8 days to run,
  3. centre of the wing tube i am told, i would do it inverted, that ok?
  4. nice one, some of the guys who come on here i have severe doubts about there insurance standing, i hope you get back in the air quickly, just a suggestion, do you have a club nearby? the learning process is much easier on the club trainer, or with an experianced pilot at your side,
  5. we are running the single 32, no prblems, good pick up throughout the rev range, we would have another, no experiance of the twin though
  6. sorry for the planes demise, but the worrying thing about this, is did you have insurance in case it hit anything?
  7. just put some plastic between them !!!!!! if you are building the first side on the plan, if you dont want to use plastic to protect the plan, then just rub soap onto the plan area where joints occur, i would use good carpentry, and aliphatic resin for the building of the fuselage frames,
  8. WELL, THATS AN HONEST ANSWER, i hope you get it sorted, please come back and tell us what happens,
  9. erm, welcome to the forum, will we see you here again i wonder ?? sorry you have been gven the run around from this supplier, this is the 2nd time i have seen their name mentioned ot stuff they have been responsible for, i prefer folk to exhaust every avenue before they go public, in this case, you seem to have done this, i hope you get a result, but please, dont just use this forum as a sounding board, contribute something eh?
  10. if youve flown it, then experiment by adding stick on tyre weights to the back until you are happy, if it flies, it cant be far out can it
  11. you simply flex them, and twist them, the ones that affer equal strength you use for the tp and bottom longerons, if you use strip of unequal strength, you run the risk of the fuz sides, when joined, going off to one side, imagine if you did one side out of REALLY soft balsa, and one side out f really HARD balsa, do you see what i mean? as for the tank, you will only needa 4oz, this will give acres of flying time,, are you ok with the build one side on top of the other bit?
  12. Does it mention in the kit about choosing equal strength wood for the longerons, and building the 2nd fuselage side on the top of the other one?
  13. now the new I.E. 9 is installed, and it works, Contact slopetrash, on here, he is a regular user of the orme, then remember these 2 words WILD THING, get nothing else, anything else you will break, thats why we call them crunchys these days, foam is the way to go, they hit the floor, and just bounce, for me, the days of a balsa white foam wing trainer are long gone, also, take up the offer on here for some tuition from Ian Jones, and experiance sloper is worth getting to know, and, as said, insurance,
  14. i threw away about 20 models that where past their sell by date, or broken, so they went to the tip, i was pilloried by a forum member, who filled his post with this sort of thing and a few of these i could see his point, offer them to the less fortunate, but they where a mess, and had been cluttering the place up,  i just did not like the way he put it across,     Edited By Alan Cantwell on 16/09/2012 11:08:13
  15. if they are not printed for financial gain, i think its ok, and she has a lovely smile, but not much else, seen more meat on a jockys whip,
  16. now come on, bet you get a buzz when a vintage bike passes you, or a merlin sings its tune, a lover of all things that howl in the IC world, is a petrol head, Funny story here, we where going to Donnington park, for the superbike event, we had a corparate box, (posh eh?) nice freeby from the bro in law firm, anyway, to get to the inner field, we had to go under a long tunnel, well, at the front was some VERY large bikes, behind me was a ferrari, all sang their tune in the echo chamber, it was music, me? i was in a citreon xantia diesel, well, you got to havnt you? much micky taking when we cleared the tunnel, and lots and lots of black smoke
  17. sounds like our A test, a simple test that many just dont want to take, i have tested 9 in the past 2 weeks, but one guy, who can just about fly to A cert standard, i passed him, and misplaced his paperwork, I text the club sec, and asked him to get the details, and he sent me the text from the A cert gent, he stated i had not given him any paperwork, and PLEADED not to be given the test again, you could read the terror in the words, meanwhile, i found the paperwork, he had given me back both parts, and i had given him a corronary, ah well, congrats on your ausssy test, bet you thought after, what was all the fuss about?
  18. Peter, your a petrol head, never a thowt it
  19. what i would like to know is just how many links are there to r/c gear? i look every day, and have seen none of the above, and i have that zero in my search!!!!!!!!! my ebay buys are are about 80%good, in the early days, i got there, the gear was pants, but i paid anyway, cos i did not want bad feedback, now? i tell them i will get down to inspect it and pay if i am happy, worst thing i ever bought was a Dave Vaugn plan built mustang, with robarts, got there, the wing was foam, the paint was peeling, the retracts where aerokit, and it was £164, but, i paid, and have looked at it slung in the corner of the workshop ever since, best was a Kyosho TA152, LOVED that plane, and for £100 too, so, come on, how many headings do you have to look under to find things?????
  20. THATS AWFULL, at least the brave guys batting the fire out stopped it spreading, with a bit of luck, the structure is safe, but it will be a lot of work getting her airborne again, I remember many years ago, a rare gypsy moth landing dead stick in a field, the tailskid struck something, there was a spark, and the entire thing went up, just as with a model,a doped structure is a firetrap, imagine the wellington bomber, so easy to set afire many had there covering burnt of in an attack, and simply fell out of the sky
