  1. Toby Whole range from park fliers, indoor, warbirds, gliders, bipes, stunt models helis large and small and as Shaun says many more you can download from the internet. People's opinions vary as to how accurate it is but I have had it just over a year and use it regularly. Mike
  2. Geronimo, I suspect if may be some of the limescale in your wife's iron that is causing the marking. I would try using meths to clean off as I do this even when using a model covering iron as you do pick up some glue and or colour sometimes. I used to use a domestic iron but did invest in a covering iron and little while a go and it is so much easier. I just need to get a sock for mine although the iron itself is covered in a non stick coating. Mike
  3. As an alternative to binding I make up some small brass plates and solder to these which I think makes a neater job but takes a bit more in getting angles right etc. I use a temperature controlled iron and Carr's flux. if you can get hold of Jenolite that is just as good but clean all residues off after to prevent corrosion. 4. Ian I suspect you are right having recently bought a Futaba 7 channel Rx for about £39 and Weston 5 channel micro Rx's are £29. For service do a Google on Futaba or talk to you LMS. If they were working when laid up there is no reason why they shouldn't now. Have you opened them up and checked for any dirty or corroded ares especially where the crystal plugs in. Are you sure its not the Tx - have you tried a know working Tx. I would have thought dirty contacts are the most likely cause? Mike
  5. Gunner If your Futaba is like my Hitec Optic use channels 1 & 5 then you have to go into the programming and activate one of the modes - flap or some such or release something that is inhibited. I know this sounds vague but look at the set up for gliders in your programming - crow and such like - I had exactly the same problem as you. Alternatively as suggested and much easier is the Y lead. Mike
  6. When flying a rudder/elevator only model on mode 2 is it better/more usual to move the rudder control from the left stick to the right and fly as if aileron/elevator or not. What do other pilots do? Thanks Mike
  7. Hi Matt, I see you are sorted but for anyone else considering take a look at Ivan Pettigrew's website http://www.geocities.com/ivansplans/ He does plans for a couple sized Catalina's. I beleive some of his design's are to be short kitted but not the Catalina at this stage. Mike
  8. Kevin I used plain old car spray from Halfords no problems - lots of thin coats for coverage.http://www.flyingsites.co.uk/cgi-bin/gallery/album.pl?photo=elec_power/odds_008.jpg;photo_width=300 Mike
  9. I have just finished my WOT 4(see avatar) and is my first I/C model - all electric until I smelt the brew. I didn't have any issues with my kit and the quality of the wood/die cutting fits etc except, yes I had to put my own fillet up on the top of the firewall to stop fuel creeping back. I have noticed the splits occurring in the veneer under the profilm but my Middle Phase - some 25+ years old is still fine. Now all I have to do is work out how to wrap the cowl round my OS46AX. Mike
  10. Hi Timbo "Run it at around 50 MPH and it will go on for thousands of miles, but run it flat out all the time at 100mph, and it will die in a short time." Not always......:-) regards Mike Guess what car I drive? http://home.swipnet.se/danny/talladega9000.htm
  11. Gary If you go to the OS site you can download it as a pdf file or do Google as plenty of other sites have it available too. Mike
  12. Great fun - David the cats been after mine too but I can just keep out of reach until the charge drops. That should keep me occupied over the weekend but I do have a WOT 4 to finish Regards Mike
  13. Having taken out a subscription I am pleased to say my Picoo Z arrived this morning ready for me to play - ah, comit aviation later. Many thanks to the team at RCME. Regards Mike
  14. Interesting point Chris - I know how to balance a prop but how do you balance a spinner? Do you fit it on a shaft and then check if there are any heavy spots? Thanks Mike
  15. Quote - "Well, the worrying thing is that it was a Castle Creations Phoenix 35......it was, if anything, over the top, as the motor used was reccomending a 20A ESC. It just packed up" That's interesting as I have a Castle Creations 35A Pegasus that has packed - it worked for a short while and then appears to have gone open circuit - motor runs at full speed only - no speed control at all. I think I might send it back to supplier. Not overloaded as I am only using on a brushed 480 with a 2.3:1 gearbox pulling about 12 amps. Mike
  16. Consider also the M/plex Twin Star II which is what I have learnt to fly on - see reviews on this site. As an alternative radio the Hitec Optic Six is similar to the Futaba 6EXA. Mike
